Yea - most of us don't think he comes, but this added buyout alone proves people at Clemson think there's a serious pull there.
He loves Clemson, it's his baby, his kids have grown up with Clemson, etc. But that mother fricked loves the University of Alabama, has his entire life and openly talks about it any chance he gets. If you can't acknowledge that then you aren't being honest with yourself.

Well with the wave of sanctions coming at Bama he really had no other options...

That all being said, there’s no telling what happens 10 years from now.
I'm not saying it's a baseless argument. Not at all. I fact I don't think Dabo would ever leave Clemson for another school except for Bama. The only way I could see Dabo possibly leaving would be if a situation like Jimbo at FSU where he could see the writing on the wall that the program was about to go to hell and fans were turning on him...Clemson is nowhere close to that. In fact, he's got this team set up to make the playoffs for as long as the eye can see.
But i don't dismiss the possibility. The nice thing is that if he ever did leave, Brent Venbables would most likely get the job and Clemson would be perfectly fine with that.

Honestly, the Bama buyout is nothing.....for Bama.
Dang these salaries are NUTS. CLEMSON spending that ACC Network money before they get the check. Even the WBB coach got a nice raise after 1 year.
Cant wait to see what Duke and unc spend on basketball contracts

So why didn't Saban go back to where he is from? Argument is flawed

Saban didn’t play at West Virginia. He never even coached there.

Alabama is is school with a great history and tradition that he can only build upon from great coaches of the past....Clemson is his Masterpiece that he built literally from scratch. How do you walk away from that? A few more dollars isn't going to be enough.
I don't think it's a given Dabo would come to Bama if we came calling; I think it's more a 50-50 proposition. However there's more allure for him to come to Bama than just money. If he wins a natty at Bama, he'll get a statue not only alongside Bear Bryant, but also alongside his mentor, Gene Stallings, who he played for and who gave him his first coaching job...not to mention they're still very close today. For a guy that grew up a Bama fan, played at Bama, and coached at Bama, that could be very tempting allurement...
That being said, if I were him, I think I'd stay put...

Those are very fair enticements...But in Clemson, Dabo's going to have statues, buildings, roads, children, pets, shopping centers, schools, brands of food named after him..
But the Gene Stallings thing is legit!

It's really amazing the job he's done. I remember reading this board when he replaced Bowden and people laughed about the hire.
He deserves every penny IMO.

You should try some of the orange kool-aid... you can still hate us one game a year. Watch a couple of our games as a rooting fan... we are a fun team to root for these days.

And he struggled for a few years after everyone said it was a joke. And he still figured it out.
Truly incredible.

Yea. Only had the one "bad" season, his 2nd full season there, at 6-6. Then it's been steady improvement.
I have to say I didn't think he would be successful either.
Besides the whole kicking my schools arse thing, I'm happy for him.

Also, Clemson very well could faceplant this season with what they are losing on defense. That would be pretty funny
Last time I checked the Clemson offense put up 44 on Bama and that offense returns virtually intact this year - we’ll be just fine.

The only reason Dabo got the chance was because Tommy's Bowden's payout was so high that Clemson at that time didn't want to pay for a big name coach. This was before the "Stupid Money" was coming in.
Dabo did well enough and beat South Carolina in his interim year with a 4-3 record to get a 3-year gig loaded with incentives...When he brought Chad Morris on for the 2011 season and opened up our offense is when things changed "Bigly".

It sounds like 97% of new coaches that nobody wanted hired. Dabo is one of the only ones who has cracked the code.
