My philosophy for G5’s is they should play four power five road games like every serious contender. I don’t care if it’s Texas Tech Kansas Washington State and Vanderbilt. Cincy has at least played two and looked really good in one. If they miss out to a team that has one loss but did play a legit P5 road schedule then I won’t cry for them. Need to put the four best teams in.

No.
SOS #101. Shouldn't even be ranked.

Indiana had more wins in the Big 10 last season* than your championship game opponent. Can’t fault Cincy for having them on the schedule.

That doesn't excuse Cincy for scheduling Murray St. and Miami-Ohio. Cincy plays plenty of weak opponents in the AAC. If they truly aspire to get in the CFP, they should schedule four quality P5 opponents.

If they would be favored to beat #5, then I would agree. Until that happens, they should enjoy their nice New Year's Six Bowl game.

They aren't getting in with a SOS in the 90's

SOS #94 per Sagarin.

Still only 65 teams in P5. Their schedule isn't even as tough as some G5 teams.

Really? Name me one P5 school with an easier schedule than Cincy

Question for the board -- Disclaimer [I don't think this prerequisite has hardly any chance of happening]

- A&M wins out. Bama and Ms St lose 1 more. A&M beats UGA in SEC Champ game.

Youre not getting in with two losses

Cincinnati has done everything that's been asked of them.

So has UTSA. Should they get a playoff spot?

If they keep Cincinnati out, that's tantamount to saying we'll never put a Group of 5 team in the 4 team playoff, no matter what. It's basically an admission that the playoff, as it's currently constructed, is a cartel pretending to be something that's not anti-competitive.

First off the AAC teams agreed to this playoff format.

Second, Cinci's schedule sucks arse.

Third, a G5 team CAN make it. The season isnt over yet.

Record be damned, does anyone actually believe there are only 5 teams in the country better than Cincinnati?? I have a hard time believing they wouldn’t be an underdog to 15-20 teams right now.

Not necessarily. Cincy f’d up with some close wins over bad teams.

Nope. Cincy's SOS is bad. Other than ND, Cincy scheduled 3 weak non-conference opponents: FCS Murray St. (3-5), Miami-Ohio (4-5), Indy (2-6). To truly earn a top-4 CFP ranking a G5 needs to schedule and beat several quality P5 teams.

If Chad Morris was still at Arkansas and Kentucky was normal Kentucky, would you say the same about Georgia?

Also, Indiana was a CFP dark horse at the start of the season.

No, Cincy should not be in. Play a mans schedule, that’s what gets you in a mans playoff bracket.

Exactly. Cincy would be 2-6 with an SEC schedule right now.

I think A&M has a chance with two losses because of wins over UA and another against #1 UGA but I guarantee a two loss Auburn team makes it. This will be where the strength of schedule comes in. This will also be where people lose their minds. Outside of the schedule teams have to play in the SEC west no other teams get these kind of opportunities. Honestly how many teams in the West couldn't be serious contenders in the AAC year in and year out? Coach O would still have a job in the AAC because they'd be sitting with maybe one loss.

Teams in front of them will lose and get out of the way simply because they play each other.
