UC win over Indiana was supposed to be a big deal, their 2nd most impressive win.
Ohio State beat Indiana 54-7.
Enough with the UC nonsense.

If they go undefeated in the regular season two years in a row. They should be in.

Indiana had more wins in the Big 10 last season* than your championship game opponent.
You blame that on the B1G, though, don't you? they're the ones that changed the rules to get Ohio State in there.

Cincy plays a schedule tougher than lots of P5 schools and is undefeated.
They have the 101st ranked SOS in the country. There are 65 P5 teams. Are you sure about your post?

They struggled way too much woth Navy and Tulane. They were actually better last season.
You cant be top 4 and struggle to put away a 1-6 team.

Question for the board -- Disclaimer [I don't think this prerequisite has hardly any chance of happening]
- A&M wins out. Bama and Ms St lose 1 more. A&M beats UGA in SEC Champ game.
- How much chaos would it take to get in w/ that scenario?

Let's be real. An undefeated Group 5 team is not going to be in the playoffs even if they blow out their opponent in every game. This isn't March Madness and the committee doesn't want a Cinderella story. It doesn't make it right but it is a fact. The highest they will put them is #5 ranking for the playoffs.

Cincy built their record by playing one respectable team out of their conference and running the table in their inferior conference.

Last night all they talked about, regarding Cincinnati, was - they beat Notre Dame at home. I have never seen a team get such credit for beating another team. Maybe I am missing something.
I have never seen a team get so much credit, this year, for playing Georgia tight in LAST year's bowl game.
There are a number of teams that would go undefeated playing Cincinnati's schedule.

It would reward weak scheduling.
Non-P5 teams should schedule multiple P5 games, and decent ones, if they are looking to make the playoffs.

Houston and SMU not being ranked is suss.
Agree. Cincinnati has done everything that's been asked of them. They have more quality wins than either Oklahoma or Wake Forest. Michigan has no quality wins, either. If Notre Dame wins out, its signature win might end up being Virginia or a totally pedestrian Wisconsin team. If Ohio State beats Michigan State, you can bet that the Buckeyes will leapfrog everyone and get Sparty's spot. If they keep Cincinnati out, that's tantamount to saying we'll never put a Group of 5 team in the 4 team playoff, no matter what. It's basically an admission that the playoff, as it's currently constructed, is a cartel pretending to be something that's not anti-competitive. It's basically a version of the Heisman Trophy contest--an exercise in brand petting.
I'm not sure that Iowa deserves to be in this lineup. They've lost the last two weeks to average teams at best and looked bad doing it; they might lose 2 more times before the month's out. I would have replaced them with Houston. Don't mind SDSU being in here; the road win against Utah's a good win.
Mississippi State is probably a little high at 17. Of the last 10 in the poll, I think Minnesota has been sneaky good. This is maybe PJ Fleck's best coaching performance yet. He's lost his top 3 running backs, including one of college football's best, to season-ending injuries.

That's what Cincinnati did, including beating Notre Dame at home, handily. At some point, these teams have to play home games as well.
What we need is playoff expansion.

Once you see the CFP for what it really is--like the NCAA, a mechanism for enforcing and maintaining an economic cartel--it all makes a lot more sense.

They absolutely don't deserve a spot. Now, if they had beaten Notre Dame something like 35-0, and blown out every team they faced, then maybe you look at that, but when your schedule is horrible, you'd better look pretty damn unbeatable - no last second wins against mediocre teams.
Cincinnati does not deserve ANY playoff consideration this year. A 2-loss SEC team is more deserving than Cincinnati.

Committee is making the case for playoff expansion. It's coming soon enough ...

But there arent any amazing teams this year. Every single top team is suspect in some way or another. Why not let the Cinderella have a shot? I think UGA beats them but I don't think Ohio State or OU blows them out.
I think Cincinnati would beat Oklahoma. OU's the kind of team that the media will say is good until a team that actually is good comes by and puts them in a woodchipper.
