So over what now seems the last 5 years it was Chubb vs Fournette, now it's Chubb vs Guice?

In fairness, he obviously jumped way too soon. Oh and I hate that fricking play.

Honestly, Guice and Fournette were great against mediocre talent as in lights out. But, against real talent their performances were garbage.

So are you 7SU fans saying that Fournette and Guice did well against mediocre teams despite their OLine sucking? or did their OLine just suck against teams like Alabama?

Bama did not stack the box in the last few years. We always played with 2 safeties deep. So, we know it's not that.

I'll hang up and listen.

Guice and Fournette had the unfortunate disadvantage of playing with no QB for all their years here, everyone was stacking the box to stop them.

Guice faced a stacked box over 70% of the time on his carries this last year, and that was by far the best QB play any of them ever got.

Excerpt from a piece:
quote:

“For example, Derrius Guice faced a Stacked Box — percentage of carries with at least one extra defender in the box — on 72.6% of his sampled carries for Yards Created.

...while CFB average is around 56%.”

So why did they suck against Bama? There were plenty of teams whose RB's got *some* yards at least while we were playing 2 safeties back?

Because our OL couldn't block 8 players.

Most likely poor matchup between our O-Line vs the Bama D-Line. It's difficult to run when there aren't any holes. This past game was a completely different story and a lot of people noticed that LSU was able to win a lot at the line of scrimmage, with LSU gaining more rushing yards against 2017 Bama than yards gained in the entire 2016 game.

Measurables are great and Chubb is a fricking stud and if not for his injury he would have put up more numbers and maybe won a heisman. Freshman Chubb was fricking beast mode. Still, the injury did happen and Guice out performed him on the field. We will see who the better pro is but both kids are elite football players.

Just checked and Chubb still finished 2017 with more yards and higher ypc.

Not last year.

ETA - And Saquon Barkley's combine numbers make them both look like pussies.

since Chubb is ~twice as strong as Guice, it would only make since he's a smidge slower. Gotta big ole chest compared to that A-cup Guice
So you are saying Guice is a smidge better at running. I wonder if that's important for a running back
