After Georgia’s 2018 Sugar Bowl loss:

quote:

“Texas outplayed us, outcompeted us,” Smart said. “They out-coached us. They out-physicaled us. They did a lot of things better than us. We have to be better. I have to be better.”

quote:

“They played more physical than us, and it showed me that they wanted it more than we did, and you’ve got to give them credit for that,” Smart said. “I thought their quarterback managed the game well with his quarterback run play. He really hurt us.”

quote:

“We didn’t play our best game tonight, but you got to give Texas a lot of credit because they made it that way.”

After Florida’s 2020 Cotton Bowl loss:

quote:

Mullen said, "To be honest with you, give our guys credit, we were under numbers to play. A lot of bowl games canceled."

quote:

That wasn’t the 2020 team you saw. There were 25 guys missing from the 2020 football team.'

quote:

"The last game the 2020 team played was 11 days ago."

quote:

“I thought our scout team guys played well.”

What a clown. Seriously, this guy sounds like a poster on here trying to justify a loss. “Our Scout team walk-ons played well.” Give me a break. Your Heisman finalist QB threw 3 INTs in the first eleven minutes.

Both 2018 Georgia and 2020 Florida came off an SEC Championship loss. Both teams had multiple players skip the bowl game. Both teams looked like they didn’t want to be there. One coach took responsibility and talked about getting better. The other coach blamed anything but himself.

This is why Florida has a culture problem. Instead of coaching the guys who played tonight to get better, he basically said, “It doesn’t matter that we lost because you guys suck and aren’t part of the real 2020 team.”

This has to be so embarrassing to Gator fans. They might not be the players you wanted to play, but they are still members of Dan Mullen’s football team, and their performance is 100% on them and Dan Mullen. No one else.

That’s what really bothers me. It might not be the best players, but they are still YOUR players Dan. It’s not like they joined the team a week ago. Wonder how it feels to be a Florida player that played tonight and see your coach tell everyone how trash you are and how you weren’t part of the “real 2020 team.”

We're in a unique position to see/hear a lot out of both of those programs. They are actually a lot alike. "Smartest guy in the room" mentality -- constantly looking around for that external factor that was beyond their control when things don't go their way. Decent coordinators, but terrible chief executives.

Both are huge douchebags.

At least he acknowledges that his team went out of the season with a big fat loss

"There ain't no - 'oh, we're gonna go out and recruit, we're gonna go do that.' Whoever we had on the plane… is all we need. That's all we need."

- Sam Pittman, not talking about getting "his" guys in the future, or the state of the second string players.

Yeah, Mullen has shown his arse quite a bit this year.

I can live with losing to OU and not playing our best given the circumstances. Last night was not the case.

I can't deal with a loss where the coaching was incompetent, poor effort and execution by some of the team, and then justifying it in the media and making silly comments like that.

Florida fans are a mirror of Mullen. It wasn’t a viable excuse for us after they beat us, down many key players including running out a midget walk-on QB, but they get arse raped by OU and it’s the first excuse they go to. All while still having Mr Trash start the game

Buncha losers

There is nothing new here. It is generally accepted that Mullen is an asshat.
He has received multiple awards like the one below.

Mullen was at least semi-likable at MSU.

The dude is a complete tool at UF.

It’s also hilarious because most of the players who opted out were McElwain recruits.

So that product on the field last night by the genius Mullen was mostly guys he recruited and failed to develop.

This is going to end up being a total anomaly year for Florida and they still had 4 fricking losses.

Mullen’s clearly at his ceiling. I hope he stays forever.
