What do you know. Liberals restrict capacity to 25% and the school loses a ton of money. For reference, the fiscal year includes the 2020 football season. On ticket sales alone, the football program lost over $30M compared to the 2019 season. Totally worth it, but at least their efforts defeated COVID

Our mens basketball and baseball programs make money so that helps a good bit.

Since it says university rather than athletic department:

Vanderbilt recorded a 57.1 percent increase in endowment in 2021, totaling its value to over $10.3 billion and making it one of the 20 largest university endowments in the U.S.

The Texas A&M University System has an endowment valued at more than $12.7 billion, 2nd among U.S. public universities and 7th overall.

If Arkansas is not poor, then why are they unable to take advantage of recruiting like A&M?

Because we have some semblance of decency and don’t buy players outright for the world to see followed by our coach lying about it.

Arkansas has paid players in the past but not even close to the Aggies and the rest of the SWC. The reason why is that Broyles and Arkansas feared the NCAA as they had no problem putting any school on major probation or given the death penalty. But they have become soft to the point that the cheating has become so rampant that it is too late to stop it now.

More than anything else, you have The University of Alabama to thank for that SEC Supplemental Revenue, because (the real) UA football program has made and contributed so much money for the SEC the last 12 years, and, moreover, is the draw for the massive money that the conference will make on tv contracts in the coming years.

"The SEC gave each member school a $23 million supplemental revenue distribution to help with the financial impact of the pandemic. It was a one-time advance based on projected revenue from a lucrative TV contract beginning in 2025. "

Why would you want a surplus in you athletic department? Go buy a new copier or maybe some office chairs.

Thats surprising. One helper is that we have fans who are passionate about multiple sports. We don't just pick one.

This.

Or custom Dodge chargers, or hookers, or whatever...

Twitter says the Ole Miss hookers give receipts. A good accountant can make that work.

LOL

"Without the $23.3 million from the conference, Arkansas would have been at a $2.2 million deficit. That's not a bad number for a pandemic year in which attendance was restricted at football, basketball and early season baseball games."

No clue what the Ole Miss numbers are but we usually report zero surplus/deficit as the athletic department just pulls money from UMAA which is a private organization.

Not sure if that’s still the case.

Wait, you are serious?

There are naive fools and there are naive fools I guess.
