Just the way the game is played now. Evidently, everyone answered yes when Saban asked if this is how you want the game to be.

Lately,

Bama's had 52 points put on them
LSU's had 55 points on them

and many many more.

Back in the days of Bear Bryant, Neyland and others, this would have been unthinkable but here we are I reckon.

Not that I can remember. We've given up 50. But no one's ever run up the score before.

ETA: Well Spurrier did but scores were different then.

Hung 62 on them in 95. But it was a weird game because Vols were winning 31-13 at halftime. Then we scored 49 unanswered points.
And this would DEFINITELY be targeting today.
