If anything, the Means case humbled Alabama fans. Most had their heads in the sand the entire time it was breaking, and even to this day feel we got railroaded.
Most of the rumors and/or accusations since that case have been met with "oh shite, not again" reaction from most of the fans, save the yahoos.
Majority of the Auburn fans have been hyper-sensitive about any of the current allegations. Some(yourself included) have been reasonable and have taken a cautious approach, but most have not. That's what some here are pointing out, but of course being met with hyper-sensitivity.

And shouldn't it be hard to defend so blindly and matter of fact, when an investigation is currently ongoing by the NCAA and actual players, the ones in question, are the ones saying they did wrong? Especially when it will do nothing but drag their names in the mud also.
But what are they investigating exactly? None of us know. When they come out and say that they found Auburn is guilty of _______, then I will be willing to take the same stance you have about Bama.
I don't know why 3 of the 4 would do it, but you do realize that HBO sponsored McClover's youth camp or whatever it was. That's a pretty good reason to go on there and say what they want to hear.
All 4 could be telling the complete truth.

No, its actually damned easy to defend something on which not a single person has thus far produced a single shred of evidence.
All it takes is two words: "prove it".
When you do that, THEN you will have my attention.
Ummm I believe he has your attention right now ~ without a shread of proof.
It's evident with your constant responses that somebody has got your attention.

So your argument as to why a player shouldn't believe he was paid to do something is..... because he was paid.
Other people who accepted something to tell the truth:
Eric Ramsey

Ok, you confused me there. What I'm saying is that since HBO sponsored his Big Brothers United camp that was a good reason for him to go on there and say whatever they wanted to hear. I'm not saying he lied about anything, just saying he thought it was a good trade off, info they wanted, support that he needed.

I've always thought that Tubs was an honest, clean coach. I never thought he would skirt the rules to get ahead. Makes you wonder WTH? when four of his players go public.
McClover was told and advised repeatedly not to go pro. Just another example of running from responsibility from your own poor decision making... when things went bad for him, it was EVERYBODY ELSE'S FAULT.
Reddick was a lazy fat-arse who stopped trying in his senior season because, as he told many, he was going to have HIS "pro money". Well, turns out, he didn't. The Auburn coaches had no use for him after he quit on his own team in his senior season.
Ramsey? His story is obvious. Hugh Nall screwed up the kid physically. And got away with it. And he and his old man are bitter (deservedly in many ways) and want their pound of flesh. They haven't been able to get it. They probably WON'T be able to get it. This is their best shot at getting anything.
All three of the above are bitter losers blaming everyone else but themselves (Ramsey with *some* grounds... Hugh Nall was, is, and forever will be a dick).
The only one that worries me is Raven Gray. When it comes to that kid, the only answer I can come up with is a
. The other three? Holders of deep, deep grudges and willing to lie their asses off. quote:
Hell, Terry admitted to having players still on the books from Dye that had to be paid off via Wayne Hall. He said he cleared the books and started to clean up the program ~ But that could have been why Lowder jetted him?
You are DE-LU-SION-AL if you think Wayne Hall or *anyone* associated to Pat Dye would have handed over this mythical "ledger book" to one Terry Bowden.
How do you think it would have went down?
"Hey, Terry... we know you don't like us or any of the leftover Dye crew... tell you what? Why don't I just hand over all the evidence you would ever need to screw me and all my good buddies lives over, buddy? How 'bout it?"
You think that really happened?

Gotcha. 4 former players and a former head coach lie. But a meddling BOT, former coach who was busted for cheating, current coach who appears to have not investigated like he said, when he called Cecil good family, former QB who was arrested for a felony are truthful.

Nope... 3 former players and a former head coach lie. I already told you I'm concerned about Raven Gray.
But the other three? I laid out clear reasoning why they would lie (and I didn't even mention the part where Reddick was told to go fly a kite with regard to being a grad assistant).
And if you don't think Tiny Terry holds a grudge, you are delusional. Where IS that mythical ledger, I wonder?

You do realize that the Albert Means case blew open because one of his high school coaches "had an axe to grind" because he didn't get his promised cut, right?
Posted on 7/6/11 at 1:23 pm to The Spleen
I'm sure he could list the "proof" in that case to. Not just the claims of individuals. Since that his the high water mark he claims.

I don't know how this turned into a pissing contest, but the most important thing is getting lost in the cross-stream. Charles Robinson from Yahoo made a comment about AU and OU being a coin toss. I would be shitting myself if he mentioned UA.

This. Of course, if he HAD mentioned Bama the AU fan take on the comments would be more in line with the Bama fans' take on he true comments.

Many thanks for getting us back on topic.
And, I agree ~ I don't want Charles Robinson mentioning Bama, period. Just like Danny Sheridan's comment about AU a few weeks ago, that many Aubs completely blew off.
There are just some folks you take seriously and some you don't. Those men know their shite and they got the stink on a few programs.

As an Auburn fan if we has shite ourselves everytime a member of the "media" made some bullshite comment like this, we'd all be dead by now. The Oregon article had damnable FACTS in it. They had confirmable sources, dates, money trails, etc, etc, etc. I haven't seen anything remotely close to that regarding Auburn. If I do, I might shite myself then....

Robinson didn't bring up Auburn and his response was rather vague. It does give me some discomfort that he answered the question the way he did but after the last 9 months I'm pretty immune to vague references. If I want to know what the line is on a game and which way I should bet then Danny Sheridan is the man but I don't think he is in the position to know what is going on inside the NCAA. To put it a different way I doubt anyone inside the NCAA would want to associate with someone with close ties to Vegas for obvious reasons. That obviously doesn't mean they are wrong but it is the reason why I personally am taking a meh approach to both statements.

He was a drinker for sure. Upstanding former players have nothing but good to say about him though. And while at Bama, never got in trouble with the NCAA.

Considering the total cloak of protection the NCAA kept over Bryant back in those days, that is a stunning rebuke.

I stand corrected. Shoulda said anything worthy of being penalized.
In any case, I got off topic also from the OP. And as with any NCAA investigation, when there is smoke coming from reputable media while an investigation is ongoing, it's never a good thing. Things leaked with the Means case and many Bama folks were like some here and on Au boards. It took a couple of years for things to come to light. I expect this to be no different. Hell, Kiffin's shenagins just got Tn in a face to face, over 2 yrs later and the penalty phase is still to come.
