I expect Hunter Yurachek will prove to be just as skilled at chairing this committee as he has been at directing Arkansas football,

It is ironic that the guy they put in charge of the committee tasked with determining the 12 best teams is the AD of the worst team in the SEC, 2-8 Arkansas.

Yeah, they are focusing on quality losses vs bad losses. But it also seems like they can pick and choose to when value certain wins.

That comment about valuing the Oregon vs Penn State win higher than other teams’ wins was suspect.

Would have to got back to the prior explanations for they focused on last year.

It's a fair point but what's the answer? ND has better losses but weaker wins. bama has good wins but a horrific loss.

CFP’s Reason For The Ranking Everybody - Rushing Yards

Seems reasonable to me….. Notre Dame has the best running back duo in the country by far (Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price)……

Yes they do.

Problem with that logic is when next week they decide that pass yards or special teams yards or some other stat matters more.

Hunter Yurachek sounded like a freakin retard.

His reasoning was dumb as shite. I honestly can't believe the crap coming from his mouth. Suddenly a "balanced offense" is a data point? WTF?!?!

As for FSU...yeah, not a great game, but people act like they're going 1-11. FSU could still end up 7-5. The narrative for another team would be how they improved afterwards...went on a 8 game win streak and beat 4 ranked teams in a row.

"But...but...rushing yards..."

Hunter Yurachek is an abortion as committee chair.

That is unbelievably stupid reasoning.

Notre Dame also ran the ball for less than 100 yards in a week 1 road loss to an ACC team.

Bama needs to learn how to run the ball if they don't want to be on the bubble - simple...

I actually thought we did better in that area against Oklahoma. Which was surprising and promising considering they have a pretty good line/front.

Are you saying that Mizzou does have a chance to beat Oklahoma?

Bama is not a playoff team, unfortunately. I thought it after USCe, thought so even more after LSU, and OU confirmed it. If UGA/Bama were played again this weekend UGA would win going away.

Forget about the four ranked wins in a row. Bama losing to another playoff team by 2 confirmed that they are not a playoff team?

Meanwhile UGA is two weeks removed from a tight game against UF, but they’d beat Bama going away now.

Sound logic.

Alright, let me rephrase that: Alabama is not playing like a playoff team. And haven't arguably in a month, whereas everybody else actually seems to be improving.

I don’t think Alabama has played its best ball but let’s look at who they’ve played in the last month:

Tennessee: Ranked #20 (Alabama won by 17)

USCe: A&M just needed the biggest comeback in school history to win by 1 point at home (Alabama needed to comeback to win on the road)

LSU: Interim coach but has plenty of talent and had a bye week. For sake of argument we’ll say LSU is dogshit. Ole Miss beat them by 5 (Alabama beat them by 6)

Oklahoma: Ranked #8. (Alabama had the ball with a chance to win the game but loses by 2)

Did Bama have full game control in each game? No. Could they improve their “game control?” Absolutely….but let’s not act like they were struggling against some shitty schedule while teams like Oregon and ND are facing a gauntlet.

Exactly, and if it our AD I’m threatening ESPN with not scheduling those types of games in the future. Either you give credit for scheduling them or you don’t and teams will stop.

What’s stupid is mid level teams get away with this strategy all the time and no one bats and eye.

Case in point look at vandy this year. They scheduled 3-7 Vtech and the rest were G5.

Why reward teams for dodging OOC competition and bite the hand that feeds you by penalizing teams for actually playing a very good OOC opponent?

This committee (and all committees) just look at win / losses since there’s too little sample size.

Committee will state whatever they want to justify their ranking. Many times contradicting themselves throughout one season.

Auburn was once denied a spot in the BCS Title game because we played an FCS team… and in the 20 years since, that’s never been an issue for any other team.

These committees and these ESPN talking heads just shift their criteria from year to year just to get the teams in the order they want.

They’re ridiculous.
