But what good is a strong resume when you lose to a 4-6 squad?

The season isn't one game. Ohio State lost to 6-6 Virginia Tech in 2014. Last year, Clemson lost to a Pitt team that went on to lose 5 games.

Bad losses should count against you, but lots of wins against good teams should count in your favor, as well.

Clemson will play 10 POWER 5 teams that will end the season bowl eligible. And they will beat every single one of them. That's pretty damn impressive.

Hint, only 4 of these teams will be able to win out.

This is great! So the playoffs have already started... But what if Georgia wins out?

The horror scenario is this:

Alabama loses to Auburn
Auburn loses to Georgia
Wisconsin loses to Ohio State
Oklahoma loses to TCU
Miami loses to Clemson

Figure out those rankings.

1 loss conference champs Clemson and Georgia obviously.

1 loss Alabama obviously.

Ohio State

Clemson plays Ohio State
Bama plays Georgia

Clemson and Bama play for it all again

Completely agree. Clemson should win that game lining up playing the wishbone, and they got dominated

If losing by 3 pts is getting dominated, what did Auburn do to Georgia?

Clemson lost one last year as well. And Alabama the year before that. Ohio State the year before that.

Seems like it's better losing to a shitty team than a good one.

Doesn't really matter

While true, putting Clemson #2 gives the impression that the actual games may or may not mean anything depending on the whims of the committee

Clemson #2 is ridiculous. The Syracuse loss continues to be ignored,

Are you sure?

Clemson has a very good resume with the best win of the top four teams -- their win over AU.

They're being cut some slack because their QB was injured and knocked out early vs Syracuse.

You don't seem to mind that AUs TWO losses are ignored.

AU's beatdown of UGA boosted AU to #6, but also boosted Clemson's strength of record.

So, actually your post is ridiculous.

If you're playing that angle then you gave to consider that Auburn wasn't very good at all when they beat them.

Uhm, nope. Clemson's defense pushed through AUs oline like shite through a tin horn, and pounded Stidham -- 11 sacks. Much like AU's DL ravaged UGA. A team's entire body of work for the whole season matters.

I have to disagree. Oklahoma has better wins at this point.

TCU, Oklahoma State (away), Ohio State (away) compared to Auburn, NC State (away).

And Clemson's loss is worse than Oklahoma's.

IMO (currently),
1. Alabama
2. Miami
3. Oklahoma
4. Wisconsin
5. Clemson
6. Auburn
7. Georgia

Rhino5: most Auburn fans are semi intelligent so you must be the village idiot. First , Syracuse would be the best team in the overrated Big 10. Last I checked, Clemson curb stomped the Big 10 rep OSU 35-0 last year in the semi so if you really think Wisconsin is better than Clemson, you truly don't know shite about college football.

BTW, last I saw Auburn, your QB was getting sacked 11 times by Clemsons DL. Have Nice night

If bama and Clemson go at it again, I predict the lowest rated championship game in a while. Bama looks nothing like their dominant self,

Maybe not right now, but if we were to make it to the championship, we would be undefeated having beaten:

Auburn
Mercer
Georgia
Oklahoma

By that point we, or anyone else with that resume would be pretty dominant.

Yes Auburn as a 2 loss Champ would be higher seeded then 4th.

Clemson's resume is down to NC State and Auburn wins. No other current top 25 wins...

Lastly, The SEC still has a chance to get 2 teams in.

If Wisconsin loses to Michigan or Ohio State in the Champ game. This is what the Top 4 would probably be if no one else loses games their not supposed too.

Clemson or Miami
Auburn or Georgia
Oklahoma
Alabama

A 1 loss Wisconsin non champ isn't getting in over a 1 loss Bama.
A 2 loss Ohio State Champ isn't getting in over a 1 loss Bama.
A 1 loss Miami non champ isn't getting in over a 1 loss Bama.
A 2 loss Clemson non champ isn't getting in over a 1 loss Bama.

Miami has 1 count that 1 top 25 win. They got respect for beating Virginia Tech who lost to Georgia Tech. That hurt both them and Clemson.

That's what's surprising about Clemson's jump. Auburn moved up 4 slots.

But, their other big wins. Louisville is 6-4 NR, NC State has been scraping by, and Virginia Tech just dropped out of the rankings.

Clemson is being carried by the early Auburn win when we were missing KJ, Pettway was hurt, and it was Stidham's 2nd game in 2 years. I hope we get in and get to play them again.

The LSU game was GUS' fault. We'll take it. KJ was hobbled though and still did ok the 1st half with over 120+ yards.

However, the Clemson game everyone seems to forget we were missing KJ due to injury, Pettway was already hurt, he had been hurt and they made it worse by forcing him to play through it. It was Also Stidham's 2nd game in 2 years. He was rusty. We took our loss, take yours it obviously didn't effect your chances...

Quit making excuses soft arse Clemson. There's no reason you should ever lose to Syracuse if you're for real.
