I don't see how a team that can't win its conference can claim they are the best team in nation. There is always an asterisk next to national title winners who lost their conference.
getting to play for national title after losing your conference is a mulligan.
Texas could end up being national champion if they play UGA in a title game for the 3rd time and beat them.

I didn’t say anything about anyone being undeserving. TCU was deserving in 2022, and they got blown out. If the committee decides that SMU is deserving today, I think we will see SMU get blown out at some point in this playoff.
