He doesn't have to be...just has to limit TO's

Not this Bama fan. I see Bama winning 28-10 or so.

What will be different is that he will have two very talented proven RBs to lean on in the early going this year, something Mallett did not have his first year and the first 5-6 games last year.

that, plus a group of really great receivers that'll make the transition a whole lot easier. and wilson's been throwing to them for awhile now. he's not your normal first year QB.

Our offense will go as far as the O-line and QB play with take. Defense and special teams should be improved. If the O line comes through then we're a solid team. If Wilson limits turnovers too, then we're a very good team.
Some big IFs. But, every team has 'em. Gonna be another great season in the SEC.

Meh, I know they're trying to hype up the end of season Ark-LSU game, but Bama will have a lot to say about that as well.

Our biggest worry is not LSU, but rather the OL. I think we're fine on the inside of the line, but LT and RT are an issue, as is TE (losing DJ will hurt a lot more than people are thinking).

Every team in the west seems to have some significant question mark somewhere, which is why I boldly predict that I have no fricking clue who's going to win out.

If Wilson can get the ball off we will be ok. That's if the line holds. One good thing about our WR group is that they will go get the ball. They are all possession receivers. He wont have to hit them in the chest. I figure we will get better as the season goes as usual. That is why I worry more about Bama than LSU.

We will have more weaknesses in the early season and I worry about A&M as well. The beginning of the season is key.

LSU I figure will be the going norm of a slugfest as both teams will have the kinks ironed out.

i see your QB play going down and your RB play going up. Mallett's a hard cat to replace

Wilson brings a much different game to Arkansas. Does he have the arm Mallett had? No, but few do. However, Wilson does have a very good arm, good touch, and is a lot more mobile than Mallett was. What QB isn't? Wilson's mobility will actually make him more effective at Arkansas than Mallett was. Note, I didn’t say “better” but more effective. Wilson’s mobility will also allow Petrino to use more of the playbook.

Against Mallett, defensive lineman could rush without regard to staying in their proper lanes and flushing Mallet into a run. At best, Mallett could get just a couple of yards and was no threat to move the chains on a forced run at all. Wilson is very mobile and when flushed, he can and will get that 1st down and maybe more.

Trust me on this. I’ve watched many of Arkansas’ practices and all the recent Spring Games and Wilson will be a very, very good and effective QB for the Hogs. And, for what it’s worth, Wilson was the very 1st recruit Petrino visited when he became the head coach at Arkansas because he knew just how good he was capable of being. Wilson was rated as one of the best Pro Style QBs out of high school and in basically two years threw for 8,226 yards with 94 TD with 29 interceptions at Greenwood. His completion percentage was 64.5%.

I think the bottom line when it comes to Wilson vs. Mallett when it comes to the offense is this:

With Wilson, the offense will be less explosive, but will be a lot more methodical. No longer will you see is convert 3rd and 20 on a regular basis, but I also don't think we'll be in 3rd in 15 or 3rd and 20 very often like we were during the Mallett era.

I seriously doubt Alabama manages to get into any shootout in 2011. The defense is going to be on lockdown. I think it could be similar to 2004 or 2005, where they knew they couldn't give up much, because of a young offense.
