And the D2 players and the P2 QB who played a 112th SOS need to get credit for production for what? Perception? It’s just gonna raise people’s expectations bc if Sooner has a rough year, we can point to these graphs so they can explain what went wrong.

That graphic looks like a fingerpainting by a kindergartner. Guy needs a Graphics 101 course.

Feldman's pod did a segment on this a while back and how you have to take these with a grain of salt.

It's not very accurate anymore and the top 3 teams with returning production for 2024 all had a worse record than 2023.

OK State
Iowa
Virginia Tech

OU fans are very confident for this year. Let's see those bet slips for SEC and playoffs.

Venables is still the coach BTW

How did Oklahoma end up that high when they lost their starting quarterback to Auburn?

Was he so bad that he didn’t account for any of Oklahoma’s offense?

All the other teams ranking extremely high on offense return their QB. All except Oklahoma.

They have a handful of D2 productive players and the QB that pulled up their numbers. Thats why I’m saying these graphs, I don’t know where Sooners are getting them or why they are making them, are disingenuous.

So it isn’t returning production.

He never ranked their 2025 success he only listed prior production. Its simply a chart showing the production of players. You and others are trying to say its a ranking when its not.

Neither did I. You brought up Golden increasing his production, I brought up Bond falling off a cliff. That's not ranking. Its a statement about how using using production of a transfer player at a different school to boost your own "returning production" is flawed because they're not returning... they're transferring.

Having experienced players is likely better than not. Even if they don’t play much, they add value in practices and film room. And understand the dynamics of the season vs a true freshman.

You can now look at every team and find so many transfer success stories. And failures too. But every team has seen contributions from transfers.

I think most people understand that this is flawed.

Would Sooner be making a case they are very talented now with transfers? Maybe, but they can’t go back now and claim they lack talent or it’s the talents fault (since they were highly productive before) instead of the coaches next year.

Are we pretending like a massive raid isn’t going to happen after spring ball?

Jerry Rice played an FCS schedule. Look how that turned out in the NFL.

This isn’t the first graph it’s the 3rd showing similar stuff. Sooner scoop posted a 30 minute podcast about 2 similar graphs telling the fan base they have the most productive. The other graphs were posted about a week and a half ago. Same maker as this one.

It’s actually smart bc if they fire BV, they can show him these to prove that OU’s talent isn’t the problem, and the next coach gets a loaded team.

I think Clemson is a semi final team this year if their O Line can hold their weight.

If Clemson can beat LSU, then that would be huge for Clemson.

The way I comprehend it is that who ever put that graph together is counting returning production from players on a given team PLUS the production of incoming transfer players. Regardless of where they are transferring in from.

That would be like a midyear minor league baseball player who is called up to the majors getting to count his minor league batting average. And that would be stupid.

Level of competition matters. Scheme and fit matter. Experience and understanding of offense/defense matter. Chemistry matters.

Counting incoming transfers stats as returning production takes none of that into account and is a very flawed system.
