So he sent him to Auburn for free after MSU refused to pay him? Yeah right. Cam Newton had to have known something was up when his father pushed him to another school.

Look at it this way Auburn. This is the best possible defense you have at this point. I really don't think it is going to work, but this is really the only way it could go. Now you just have to hope there is no money trail and that Cam had no knowledge of this (although, admittedly, this isn't that important in the grand scheme of things).

The problem is going to be the tapes and who the NCAA is going to believe. Are they going to believe the SEC coaches or are they going to believe Cecil Newton who has admitted to pimping out his son. If the tapes exist, and I believe they do, its going to be a matter of how they sound and what is said. I don't like your chances honestly but it's the best hope you've got right now.

To say Cam knew nothing about it does not square up with what he supposedly said to a MSU coach about the money being too much.

But, IF... and this is a BIG if, Newton didn't take money from Auburn, that quote makes no sense.

I was lying yesterday but today I'm telling the truth

So basically, the only plausible defense left for Auburn (assuming this is true) is that Cecil asked MSU for money, it didn't work out, and then decided not to ask Auburn for money and sent him there cause he wouldn't be a "rented mule." Or he asked MSU for money, they turned him down, then asked Auburn for money, they turned him down, and then he decided to send him to Auburn so he wouldn't be a "rented mule."

The explanations are being narrowed down pretty quickly.

And Pandora's box opens?

Auburn fans, this old man's greed may very well end up demolishing your program.

Unless Cam knew all along Daddy was shopping him around.

Yet, from what the NCAA said, this alone would seem to make Cam ineligible.

Cam had to know something was going on. He was practically a lock for MSU at one point and then his dad mysteriously directed him to Auburn. He had to have known there was a reason for that.

I am not sure that this matters under the NCAA rules. If someone connected to a player takes these actions, they may be imputed to the player.

I agree. You hope there is nothing showing he received any benefits and that there is no evidence that Cam knew anything.
