What is the purpose of the BCS then?
It's pretty clearly to match the 2 top-ranked teams. Whether those ranked teams are the best is nothing more than an opinion - it can never actually be proven one way or another.

I honestly can't believe you are this dense.

Clearly a call to Bama fans.

Clearly low brow stupidity.

Keep it up, perpetuate the stereotypes.

And who should be ranked 1 and 2?

I'm going to assume that you'll sidestep this question and say something like, "whoever the voters think should play" or something similar to that.

I don't, and I don't think most other Bama fans have a problem with someone legitimately thinking another team is better than Bama. What I, and probably most others are arguing is that you can't just decide that you'd rather see another team play in the game because Bama lost to LSU earlier. IF you think Bama is clearly the better team, you, as a voter, have the responsibility to vote them as such. If you think OSU is as good as Bama (however stupid that is) you have the right to vote them as such. It's the BS reasons for dropping Bama that I and others are complaining about. And most of them are coming from LSU fans who, understandably, don't want to play Bama again.

But you can't make up rules like "conference champions", "already played", etc, that don't exist to argue your case. Either you think OSU is as good as Bama or you don't.

Clearly, there are people who do. As LSU fans, we don't and can only speculate. We know we can compete with Bama.

I've said all along that I agree. But you're naive if you don't think some voters have ulterior motives. You're also naive if you think there are some BCS rules against voting particular ways.

Not to mention there are some people who will look at resumes and say Okie State is better. Just b/c you don't agree with them doesn't mean they're wrong, and it doesn't mean they don't get a vote.

That's all I'm saying - of course, the "best" 2 teams should be ranked #1 and #2. But I ask again - is "best" an opinion, or is it a fact? Answer honestly and you'll see my point.

I'd have LSU at #1 and OSU at #2. I agree with the computer polls. It's only the human vote that's pumping Alabama up to #2. When the resumes for OSU and Bama are placed side-by-side, OSU's resume still looks better despite the loss to Iowa State. I feel that OSU has done more with their wins to warrant a #2 ranking than Bama has.

Ok, but I didn't mean this year specifically. I was talking about when voting, what are the voters voting on. Since it apparently isn't who are the best teams, according to some of your compatriots.

Strawman. But the only way to know is to go ask each individual voter.

I'm sure none of you know or care, but Cecil Hurt is by far the most objective and professional beat writer that I know of.

He really is a good journalist.

I'd argue that LSU and OSU are the two best teams right now. If OSU loses to OU, then that goes out the window. I would not get behind a one-loss conference champion VT to vault Bama simply because VT doesn't have a comparable resume to Bama.

Cecil Dumb F. is doling out red koolaid for the least of you ignorant gumps. Nobody gives a shite about that small town crook or what he thinks. We are ready to play WHATEVER team is deemed to be our opponent. We are relentless and unafraid, and will do what we do... KICK arse and TAKE NAMES!
No other team will have been required to take as difficult a road to this NCG as LSU, and we take great pleasure in our journey. We have earned our way OUTRIGHT and are worthy of the rewards .
You and Your Cecil God are redneck morons.

They are buying it. I never realized how really ignorant some of these f'ks were and how much they lived up to the stereotypes til I started spending a little more time on here.

Perhaps you aren't literate. Could you cite the exact quote from the opinion piece that says something approaching "scared or stupid"?

There are a lot of scared LSU fans out there. Deep down they know that Bama and LSU should play but they want an easy win. I don't blame them but just funny how they try and justify it with what they think is logic.

This is now the typical Bama thread. While I might agree that the Tide are the second best team, it is my contention that in CFB, the regular season is the playoff, and Bama lost at home to LSU, so that should be it. Now if the BCS and the current system determines that LSU needs to beat Alabama twice to continue their run through perhaps the most difficult schedule in the history of football, than that is the way it goes. I trust the Tigers will be more than ready. What I really wish is that, having lost to LSU, at home, the Gumps out there would shut up and let let things play out. They should be thanking their lucky asses that they might get a chance to play LSU again. It is just so distasteful that they feel justified in bragging after they lost. You come off as blowhard morons.
