Texas is not the best job which is why no blue chip coaches have gone to work there. Too much BS to deal with from Texas Exes trying to have a voice because of their money. Ask urban Meyer and Nick Saban and they will give you the same answer

I did have a college coach tell me that a big advantage LSU has is having Southern in the same area. He said coaches would use the fact that a recruit could play ball in the SEC and party in the SWAC.

Ed Orgeron would have never been hired by any serious program.

When he was the interim coach at LSU my sister and mother kept asking me if LSU would hire Orgeron has the permanent head coach. My response was "even if he somehow won the national title as interim, he still won't get the full time position." Needless to say, I was shocked when the decision was announced.

Diamond Tier- Elite Tier- Silver?

Are we selling packaged products at a new car dealership F&I office or describing college football programs?

Vols have more money than OU and more fertile recruiting land than Oklahoma or Pennsylvania

Not trying to start a tit for tat pissing match here, just some perspective to recruiting grounds. I think we can agree there is a lot of football played in both Tennessee and Texas. Oklahoma recruits mostly Texas and nationally.
Population of entire state of Tennessee is about 7.2 million. Population of DFW metroplex alone is about 8.3 million. Hard to believe Tennessee is more fertile, equal maybe. Pennsylvania, no way.
If speaking of state footprint only, then sure, Tennessee tops.

CBS: Four of these five programs have combined to win eight of college football's 10 national championships during the playoff era.

Which one came up short?

When the right coach meets the best place and winning begins, it becomes the perfect job for that guy. ALABAMA was perfect for Coach Saban because of his persona and coaching chops. It was a nightmare for guys like Dennis Franchione.

It's only the best school when it's the perfect guy for the job.

could Les Miles

Les miles catches a lot of shite for being sabans bitch but the man can run a program, did great at okie st and he maintained sabans war machine for many years. His biggest coaching mistake was being in a division with saban, he was fine til saban returned from nfl. I think he has a solid chance of winning a title at bama.

Ed Orgern win a title at Alabama?

I don’t think ed O gets it done anywhere else. I don’t think he could ever win one at lsu again. He was just at the right place at the right time.

You’re not wrong… but it also illustrates how absurd Alabama’s domination has been, considering this.

That said, I think Auburn has only really gotten in the way of two titles - the Punt Bama Punt game and the Kick Six game. So once every 40 years or so.

I know the answer…and that school pretends to be elite, but the data would say otherwise.

I despise the Swamprats as much as the next guy, but they have some tremendous advantages.

Only big school in a state that produces a ton of talent.
Right next to Texas and close to Houston.

Les and O won Natty’s there for fvck sake. Not many places those two turds could win.

What do Mizzou fans have against LSU?

We aren't rivals, are far apart geographically, and have barely ever played each other.

Imagine the success that OM or State could have if the other didn’t exist. Same for Bama/Auburn.

That’s the built in advantage of LSU and that’s what led Saban to leave Michigan State.

Exactly. LSU has no in state competition. that's a huge advantage
