This doesn't help our case. Guy is 100% douchebag.

I use to like him. I still want too. He says a lot of interesting things.

But he's also said a lot of really stupid things and doesn't have the balls to stand for truth. Between covid and woke, he lost me.

Funny, all the people I knew were in RTF.

I knew several RTF majors and they all ended up working (in some form or fashion) in the insurance industry.

The issue is vibe coding is real and the biggest sack of bullshite and I can't wait for the bubble to burst.

I don't get the problem with "vibe coding". I think it's very useful.

I can see an obvious disconnect between me and the code when I do it. That kind of sucks, but it's the same thing as using some other persons code. I don't know what's going on inside most libraries I may import either.

Why do you hate it so much? I see people hating on it all the time, and I just don't get it. I don't care how someone gets the oranges up the stairs.

There are a lot of reasons to not like vibe coding. If a person doesn't understand why a programming language and its semantics works the way it does, I don't want that person generating code for a project with LLMs.

It's the same reason why I believe AI/ML Engineers should know libraries like NumPy and PyTorch are written in C/CPP and why it is written in those languages.

You should have some understanding of what's happening behind the scenes so you can write structurally sound code.

It's also why you should understand how operating systems work. It all only makes you be a better programmer and write more structurally sound code.

Vibe coders have a huge disconnect with these things.

Yes we only have 4, but that's only because our admin and alumni refuse to claim contested titles...unlike some SEC schools and at least one former SWC/Big12 member that is now SEC. (Shouldn't take you long to figure that one out, lol)

Sat to Farah Fawcett on a flight from Houston to San Diego. She wasn't feeling well but was still very gracious. Impressive.

That sounds like more of a company/hiring issue and how it's being used.

I'm personally doing things I've done many times over(and so have many other people, giving it a good base to pull from), but I'm much faster at doing them now. The things I do where that isn't the case, it's not very good for me and I never use the code. I've tried, it's at the same time amazing that it somewhat grasped what was going on, but also doesn't really grasp it enough to do it right. Still great for debugging and finding errors.

I think it's making me lazier/dumber though, and there is the disconnect so I can't argue with that. But overall, I like it. It's an assistant for me, not the other way around.

Fire Down Below is one of the greatest movies of all time and Lesbian Helm should be honored to have gotten to come to Kentucky to shoot it with Seagal
