I think what's most important for Tennessee to get into is 3rd and manageable (sounds cliche I know). I looked up online, Alabama has improved remarkably in 3rd down defense this year, giving up a first down only 28% of the time on 3rd down. On other hand, Tennessee converts a 1st down on 3rd down 48% of the time, but Averages 1.75 yards a gain on 3rd and long, whereas they average around 5-6 yards on 3rd and short. Really tough task going against the Bama defense though with Ashawn, Reed, and Payne in the middle.

If we can keep the intermediate passing game going like it was against UGA we can move the ball. That said, Dobbs had better be accurate, cuz he isn't gonna get away with some stuff against Bama that he did against UGA.

Bama has had some trouble in the past against quarterbacks that can run.
I like this narrative, keep it rolling. You should throw in a mention of Johnny Manziel every third sentence.

We gonna skull drag the Vols up and down the field.

Agree with most ITT. We'll be more successful than most as our rushing attack is really pretty good, but I do not believe we have much of a shot.

A warning to Tenn fans in this thread...do not, I repeat, do not base your rushing success against Bama based on what you did against UGA...
Its simple, we suck, and they don't
Thanks

The wonderful QB will lead the Vols in rushing. Mobile QBs seem to get yards on a Bama D. Not sure this equates to a W.

Literally, no one is doing that.

So you went from Fire Butch and frick this season to..."Ya we can run on Bama" and it had nothing to do with the GA game.
Whatever you say, please continue.

If you are having issues in the OLine you are dead vs this defense. Alabama can do some things they were not doing last year. One is we can rush the passer as well as stone the run. And we are actually covering receivers.

Tennessee has a rush SP rank of 42nd, and adjusted line yard rank of 27th.
Bama's defense is 3rd and 6th respectively.
For those of you not into advanced stats...that's not good for Tennessee

Our run blocking has been pretty decent. We are awful in pass protection. Funny how we can never seem to put two and two together.

We have run the ball well 6 straight games. Like I said, it has nothing to do with UGA.

Just trying to understand why the delusional Tenn fans think they will run well against the best run defense in the country.
You won't

I was going to say if UT is going to have any success moving the ball it will have to start with QB runs. Let Dobbs run it til we have to adjust, and then take advantage of Bama'a adjustments from there.

If alien is willing and able to scramble, I like their chances at keeping it respectable

Tennessee will be able to get theirs on the ground. Dobbs will run like he never ran before. He is a hard, tough runner. Hurd will punish some of those Bama fatties as well. Tennessee is ready for this game...am I calling for a victory?? I dunno but I do know this..Bama better not think this is a gimme win because if they do, they will just get those tender feelings hurt. UT had a week off while Bama is running their gauntlet of getting hit over and over again for 8 weeks straight, I think 8 wks, right? Anyway, I feel good about this game. THose Bama fat boys are gonna get a steady dose of Hurd and Dobbs and the streak ends on TSIO you fat mother frickers...BEAT BAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!
