Colloquialism. 33 is in the top 30s, while 40 is not in the top 30s.

Stonehog walks into a pub and asks for 12 shots of vodka.

The barman says, "Wow, 12. Are you celebrating?"

Stonehog replies, "I've just experienced my first blow job."

The barman says, "That's brilliant. Let me get you another one on the house."

Stonehog replies, "No, that's okay. If the twelfth one doesn't get the taste out of my mouth nothing will."

A&M would embarass the SEC in the tourney. Not becuase of thier Play. Becuase the A&M players look like the just stepped out of the Blue Oyster Bar in a nightmare episode of Real World San Fransisco.

It was the third season, and it was fabulous.

Usually helps when you're not the only one who will understand your insult

I hope we slide into the 12 seed play-in-game. That would give us two very winnable games. Then a game against the 4 seed at best. I love that spot.

Beyond absurd that this entire stat may depend on whether LSU ranks #51 or #50 yet it's trumpeted as some gold standard.

Other odd twist of logic:
if the RPI is important enough that not having Top 50s wins is reason alone for exclusion, how contradictory is that they could be #30-35 in the same RPI with no top 50 wins?

Nice win in Columbia. We need to beat auburn and Bama in college station, then beat either arkansas or Florida. Do that, and we're in.

And LSU is up on Florida at half. If they can hold on, we all of the sudden have two top 50 wins.

What was Virginia Tech when they had 23 wins? I think it was 2010?

they had a 57 RPI to end the season but it looks like it was 59 on selection Sunday (their RPI in "week 19")

well tbh, top 50 isn't even used by the committee. It's simple display for fans and tv. They actually look and value each game without using the arbitrary top 50 that this thread implies.

It's not valueless because obviously it speaks to quality wins but it's also not some gold standard.

Obviously it's not some gold standard, but the fact that A&M's best win is hovering around 50 speaks to how light their resume is on quality wins. It doesn't really make sense to me why Lunardi has them so solidly in, although Lunardi doesn't do much that makes sense to me.

Bubble is very soft imo, Aggies in with 3 more wins. If we can carry them for rpi weight and they dont collapse vs bama/auburn at home. Even though the SEC is very middle heavy our conference rpi is better than the last few years of a 3 bid league.

If they win the next 3(Big IF)then even the probable loss at Bud Walton won't keep them out of the high 40's IMO.
