To his credit, a heck of a class, which all came together because someone recruited bro Denzel a few years ago....and RN got some 5 stars to follow him.

Assuming they have some real success down the road, as in winning the SEC, and defeating LSU, Bama, etc, can/will the OM program pony up Saban/Miles money to keep him from another school like Oregon, USC, etc or the NFL.

The thing about having a big time program is it's not cheap. You need a bigger stadium, more boosters (or more money from the ones you have). In a two school state like Mississippi, which doesn't produce the overall instate talent like Bama, FLA or LA - and has two state SEC schools - you're looking at a huge national recruiting budget (e.g. TENN).

I think aTm can afford it, as they are cherry picking UT now for talent, but we'll see if OM 2013 is an aberration, or a new reality.

Yes??? Pretty easy to say before you have to pull out the checkbook.

I'll say this, as an LSU fan, you will NEVER be able to outspend us, and I think I can safely say the same about Bama, probably times two.

OM is about $200 million behind both just in facilities (stadium, which BTW pays a lot of the rent) and $4mill a year in coaching salary. You do know that several LSU or Bama assistants make more than Freeze right now?

It certainly was a good class, but 2 or 3 five stars isn't going to make a powerhouse program.

If they can afford these recruits, surely they can afford Bucky.

They can definitely afford Freeze. But whether or not they can afford to spend what they would eventually have to in facilities upgrades and assistant coaches salaries to keep him there is the real question.

I'd be real interested on how this plays out in Mississippi. Certainly powerful politicians for each school. Can't see MSU taking this lightly, which would have blown up had the 5 star flipped.

OM fans who say this is his "dream" job are delusional. Everyone has his price. As I said, it's more than Freeze's salary. It's the assistant's, the recruiting budget, the facilities, etx. If you pay him only, he won't succeed. See how that works out.

Just be real about it, don't be delusional about money.

i already can see what is going to happen. If Butch Jones doesn't work out a Tenn and Freeze continues this level of coaching/recruiting at OM you can bet your arse we will fly a bank vault to Oxford and Freeze will be unable to say no regardless of how much he likes OM.

All you're gonna hear from OM fans is cliche answers such as "this is his dream job" and "he grew up an OM fan" and all of that is true, and on the surface it doesn't look like he's gonna leave and I can't remember another situation quite like this. However, I'm not sheepish enough to say he will never leave EVAR. we will just have to see.

But one thing I know for damn sure (wishnitwas1998), he will never, EVAR, leave for Tennessee.

Well, my father doesn't. He didn't want to move his family out to Cali in order for him to get the promotion. This was the mid-90s and yeah he's gotten salary increases, but for some people the difference in what they'd do with a million dollars a year and five million dollars a year is absolutely miniscule. I believe that Freeze is one of those people.

That's what they all say.

But seriously, lets not get ahead of ourselves. They're much improved and had a great recruiting class, but they still lost to every good team they played last year and they won't seriously compete for SEC titles for a while.
