You do, it's called a bowl game.

Not really the same. UGA has games scheduled with ND (h/h), UVA (atl), UCLA (h/h), etc. Have played Clemson (h/h), UNC (atl), etc. in the recent past. I'd basically prefer all of those to going to Starkville or College Station more often. We just don't have any history with those schools.

Why? Because tenny and UGA say so.

You're right. It's not all about Auburn. It's about making travel easier and cheaper for the other East schools too.
No it's not, or else Kentucky and Florida wouldn't be in the same division. They're 716 miles apart. Traveling comes with the territory of college football. Miami and Pittsburgh are in the same division. Syracuse and Boston College are in a division with Florida state. This is about Auburn running from a tough division.

No. They'd keep Alabama has their fixed Western team. They have much more history in football with Tennessee,Florida and Georgia than they do western teams, except State.
Actually in SEC baseball in the late 60s until the mid 70's Auburn WAS in the "East" division of the SEC.

That fits your little agenda against Auburn, but the move makes so much sense whether you like it or not.
Using other conferences is a poor analogy because they followed in the footsteps of expansion and don't have an easy solution like the SEC does.

I think with the new playoff format the SEC will soon be forced to adopt a 9-game conference schedule such as the PAC-12 and Big 10. I could see those leagues complaining.

Miami, Boston College, and Virginia Tech moved to the ACC long before Texas A&M and Mizzou came here. Geographically it made sense to put Miami in a division with FSU, but they didn't because that would've thrown off the parity balance between the two divisions.
The ACC has a very simple solution with their footprint. North and South, same as the PAC 12 Justin the other side of the country
North:
Syracuse
Pittsburgh
Boston College
Virginia
Virginia tech
Louisville
NC State
South
Clemson
Georgia Tech
North Carolina
Florida State
Miami
Duke
Wake Forrest
Because travel costs right.

Why would those complaints matter? The SEC isn't getting left out because that.
If the SEC wants to have a rule mandating 10 games against Power 5/ND teams, I'm all for it.

I don't care either way, fun to sit back and watch

You used Syracuse and Pitt as your examples and then bring up Miami, FSU, and VT?

considering this appears to be making the Gumps on this board menstruate and wet the bed, this is a great idea.

The geographical arguement is a tough one because Mizzou is out in the middle of fricking no where. The distance between Columbia, SC (for example) and every other school in the East is shorter than the distance between Columbia, MO and ANY SCHOOL IN THE CONFERENCE sans Arkansas. It is a hassle for anyone to go there.
Posted on 6/1/17 at 9:55 am to Riseupfromtherubble
It's not about Auburn running if the East actually supports the move.
We want Auburn.
We want Auburn.

How about a double switch after Saban retires?
Auburn and MSU to the East, Mizzou and Tennesee to the West. Preserves 3 of the "Big 6" on each side, Bama keeps both rivalry games. Auburn can play Florida and UGA like they want.
West
Tenn
Bama
LSU
Ole Miss
TAMU
Mizzou
Arkansas
East
Florida
UGA
Auburn
Vandy
MSU
SC
Kentucky

Yeah, I know. What did I say that brought on that response?
To clarify, the 10 games would include your conference games, just in case that was the hangup.

Yeah, I only care about Georgia. The best advance to the playoff under any proposed scenario.
