My guess is respect for Jimbo and what he has accomplished. Don't think he can get it done with Mond but we'll see

If you're wondering why we're top 10, it's not like that many teams are actually playing.
When you return 17 starters and most schools didn't get a Spring due to the pandemic, experience is actually a good thing because you don't have as many impact players learning the playbook for the first time.
The counter, of course, is that Kellen Mond is still the starting QB.

Because A&M is overrated, again.

A lot of the preseason love for the Aggies is that they had a dream schedule. Something like half of the teams they played were breaking in new coaches, which is unreal. I cannot recall a season that set up so perfectly for a team to take a big step forward.
Then all that went down the terlet with the change in schedule. Everyone's expectations haven't adjusted to the new reality yet. A&M could have a very good team that struggles to win 6 games this year.
My guess is we are going to see winning percentages more in tune with the NFL than we are used to with college football. A good college team can go 9-3. A good NFL team will probably go 9-7.

It's just returning production for the most part. But, if Mond doesn't make a jump, it won't matter. I think our defense will be pretty salty. It helps that Tua/Burrow are no longer around.

Even if Mond doesn't, he's shown enough to beat the teams we should beat and every once in awhile goes off. That will be enough to win 7 games this year.

Absolutely. But, I think it would take 8-2 or better to meet the so called "preseason love."
