This is laughable.

I've dealt with both and seen both in action. I'm trolling or anything of that nature, just stating observations.

Like I said, I hate UT but their alumni are ridiculous.

So is it just their business school that has great networking or their entire university? I have a hard time believing the latter, but if you're just talking about McCombs I can buy that.

We're cool, Benny

Just going to agree to disagree on that point (as I probably will with most other various points on this thread, tbh )

Well, obviously it rustles y'alls collective jimmies anytime someone suggests A&M isn't and never will be the premier university in Texas.

I doubt we'd see a similar reaction from Auburn fans if someone started a thread asking if Auburn could ever become the premier university in Alabama.

State fans OTOH...

Well, A&M is:

Larger
Older
Has Flagship Status
Has a larger research spend
Is about equal academically
Is stronger politically
Is a better football team right now
Is killing Texas in recruiting right now
Is in a better conference
Has a Top 20 history

So who gives a damn? If you want to say Texas is the premier University just because they have a stronger football HISTORY then fine, nothing will change your mind. I certainly wouldn't change places with them for the future though.

This.

I think if A&M really becomes a real threat to UT's status within the state, UT starts exploring the SEC, that way A&M is returned to little bro status.

They will abandon the LHN and try for the Pac 16 again before they ever do that.

Questions like this are always posed by non-Aggies. A&M is a premier University with growing resources and large appeal. The WSJ recently named A&M tops in terms of ROI. This is actually what matters in the real world.

This.

Texas' MO has always been the easiest possible path to the title game. That's why they were desperate to keep A&M under their thumb and why they looked west as opposed to east when it came to the conference realignment game.

Could you imagine the jimmie russling that would occur if strong rumors started to float that Texas was talking to Slive about coming to the SEC? I'm guessing that the Ags would absolutely meltdown.

On a related note, could and/or would the SEC be able to turn down Texas if they came to our door?

As much as I hate UT, their alumni network is by far the best in the south for a public university. Virginia is up there along with Emory and SMU (both private) but McCombs is incredible with their alumni network. A&M is a great school but their network isn't really even comparable.

You blew my mind.

A certain diminutive man in a bowtie made sure we slammed the door to future SEC expansion in Texas shut when we came on.

Situations where the interviewer isn't talking about the spirit that can ne'er be told and shite, UT really is in another class, not just with A&M but all other universities

So when Aggies aren't doing the hiring, Aggie applicants are behind the 8-ball in securing a job?

Why then are Aggies the second most sought after graduates in the country?

So says the Wall Street Journal.

If Texas were to share their revenue in teh same way other schools are sharing theirs (make the LHN and SEC network deals compatible) then I'm sure the SEC would accept Texas
