Do they need to be registered in LA or AL? I didnt think so

No clue.

No "gun registration," in Louisiana at least. If you buy it from a dealer (gun dealer=FFL), you do the Form 4473, that checks with the feds to see if you are legally allowed to buy a gun.

If you receive the gun face-to-face from a non-dealer, nothing is required, but you must be legally eligible to own a gun (this is on the honor system). This applies whether you buy it (say, from your neighbor), or get it as a gift (say your dad gives you a gun for Christmas).

I think the 4473 also runs the gun serial # to see if it's reported stolen. That way, you're safe from the "possession of stolen firearm" risk if you buy it from any dealer.
If it's a face-to-face deal, again, you're on the honor system.

Pretty much a nonfactor. He was recently relected, has been DA for many years, and will quite possibly retire before facing another election.

Ok.

Let me guess-- you also think their claim of "forgetting" to drop the guns off before going to the closed park to smoke pot is reasonable as well, right? Even though that would mean they "forgot" for at minimum 9 hours, considering the range closes at 6 and they were arrested at 3 the next morning... Not to mention one of the guns they "forgot" to drop off, was sitting in Hooties lap- in plain sight of the officer- when they were approached. Got it.

Who is everybody going to blame when a Louisana DA reduces the charges on both kids and the judge puts them on probation? The melt will be classic.

Anyone who "melts" over whatever comes out of this is a giant pussy.

It is nice for Saban to confirm there is no spine in his midget body.

Makes sense.

Then there'll be a ton of pussies running around down there then.
I hear that Saban already has the ballots printed up for the team vote.

Once again, ever bought a gun from a private party? How did you know it wasn't stolen?

Yes bought and sold from person to person.

That's why you fill out a gun receivership. You get their name, address, DL#, birth date, and they sign it stating they are eligible to legally purchase the firearm. In return the seller signs one stating they legally own the gun (not stolen) and are transferring ownership to the buyer.

If neither of these are present then buyer and seller take full responsibility for any legal ramifications resulting from the transfer of the firearm.

Common sense people.

not common sense at all. I bought a handgun many years ago from a very reliable source. No bill of sale just an exchange of money. I was around 25 and he was slightly older. He was a member of LE.

Why would there be a team vote? They are not suspended and will likely not miss a minute of playing time.

You are correct. They likely won't miss any time. That is why so many folks here are butthurt.

I had a police officer ask if I'd trade my 357 for his little brothers semi automatic. I quickly said no, but the reason he even asked was because his brother had purchased an off brand gun to use as an everyday weapon on the police force.

A quality revolver will never jam you up. Don't buy a cheap pistol if it's all your gonna have between you and the crook. That was why he wanted his brother to get rid of the pistol he had purchased.

When I went shooting I never went to a range. Never been to one since I was in Boy Scouts.

Cam Robinson will probably get to play. I'd like to say make an example of him, but I don't know the situation and he'll be drafted regardless of what happens imho.

And I've never bought but 1 pistol at a dealers store. I had to wait 3 days I think. Not sure. You can download a permit to carry on line and just take it to the local LE office I believe.
I've definitely got more than one gun, and have probably broke the law in how I've transported them before.

If you buy a used gun from a dealer, ffl holder, they will call in a background check on the buyer. They will also fill out paperwork on the gun. If you are not qualified to buy a gun or if the gun is stolen that ends the sale.
This is why if you buy from an individual get their name and drivers license. Then take the gun to a police station and have them run the serial number.
Police will not run the number unless they have the gun in their possession.

Sheriff has nothing to do with this one, it was Monroe PD.

I live here and the only 2 shooting ranges both close at 6pm so if he went to the range he had between 6pm and 2:30am to do something with the gun. I'm not buying that story, he was carrying.

Forsythe Park is not the place to be sitting in a car and smoking weed after dark. There are way too many nice homes and wealthy people around there and the police will protect that area, after all that is where a lot of their tax base is located.

Rumor here is they were given the opportunity to leave by the cop and they chose to get mouthy with him. I'm not calling them a pair of thugs but if this did happen I am calling them idiots.

The DA here tends to follow the letter of the law. Very seldom does he try to make an example out of people but very seldom does he reduce charges also. That part is going to be hard to read until it happens. He does offer plea deals and this may happen but it is a high profile case.

There could be federal charges applied too, carrying a stolen gun across state lines could be considered trafficking and that presents a whole nother set of challenges. I don't look for this to happen.

I do know this, whatever charges the DA decides to apply in this case they will stick. Our DA here doesn't lose many cases and I've never known him to lose a high profile case. If he is going to be on TV he most likely will win.

Watched the episode of Viceland on the LA Law System. They stated the DA has discretionary power over judges when it comes to sentencing. They claimed the system is established to create money for the individual law enforcement agencies.
