Terrible comparison because it took Favre playing in the league for over 20 years to get that way. He was proven in the NFL. Cam, not so much.

Coming from a Falcons fan, you don't know what you're talking about right here.

here, from your post:

You damn straight I'm serious.

Look at Tebow. He was a leader as soon as he
stepped on that campus.

Tebow was the starter...what did you want him to do? Demand respect from the fricking sideline? And no, Tebow wasn't the leader as soon as he stepped on campus, or he wouldn't have split time along side Leak.

my comment was meant to be sarcastic, as tebow was not the strarting quarterback when he got on campus in the fall of 06, chris leak was. you may remember florida winning a national title against ohio state that year. chris leak, not tim tebow, was the gator's starting quarterback.

He was with the Falcons for a year.

Seeing as how Cam Newton was still in high school in '06, Tebow's freshman year, that would be kind of hard. My post seemed pretty clear to me in stating that while Cam Newton was at UF, Tim Tebow was the obvious starter. Saying Cam Newton wasn't a leader at UF is the equivalent of saying A.J. McCarron hasn't been a leader on the UA team so far...both are equally retarded.

And if memory serves me, he was thought of as a giant douche, not a leader.
It doesn't really matter, bottom line, Cam Newton is going to make more than 99.99999% of the people that post on the rant whether he makes it in the NFL or not.

Yes, and he got traded to Green Bay because he was a massive frickup, even in Jerry Glanville's eyes...which should tell you something.

And 3 years after his career is over be worth less than 99.999% of the people that post on the rant.

I find it absolutely hysterical that people think Cam was hated in the locker room and wasn't a good leader. If he was so hated, why did he get put on the shoulders of the offensive linemen after the SECCG? Instead of making up complete bullshite, people need to start critiquing him on things that actually exist, like his subpar footwork.

By who? Falcons fans?? I'm sure the people in Green Bay had a different opinion of him up until all the retirement stuff went down.

I'm pretty sure that's not the debate here. You fricking Auburn fans sound like abused women taking up for their a-hole husbands sometimes. Sheesh.

well that's almost certainly true

Although like over 80% of NFL players he'll probably be completely broke within four years of retirement

And being rich vs poor is a pretty different thing from being likable vs a douche

I saw Farve play and beat Auburn in Auburn during his USM days and I remember what was said of him after the Falcons traded him to GB. He has always been the same Brett Farve you see today.

He led Green Bay to the playoffs the very next year didn't he? I think it's the Falcons franchise that's the frick up.

I was referring to his time with the Falcons...NGT can help me out with this, but he was not well liked by his teammates or the fans.

You missed my point as I am not taking up for Newton, just pointing out that in the grand scheme of things, all of you with sand in your vag about Newton really don't matter. He will sign a huge contract and make a boatload of money.

I would like to offer something to the comparison of Cam Newton to Brett Favre:

It's very simple. This retard who wrote the article has 1 good point. He has a fake smile. Other than that, it's just his very, very, very uninformed opinion.

Unless the coaching staff and teammates threw him under the bus during super-secret interviews, this guy is just trying to create a stir, which he has been successful in doing.

He has no clue who Cam Newton is.

What does this have to do with your previous post that he became a douche after years of success? I'm telling you, as an Atlanta fan, who sees what he was able to accomplish after he left, that is not the case. Do some research on what his time in Atlanta was like, as it is really quite interesting. I believe ESPN even did one of those "10 reasons it wasn't the Falcons fault..." specials. The guy couldn't stay out of Buckhead, showed up to practice late and hungover, pissed off the coaches and teamates, etc.

That is well documented as well. But this still does not make your previous statement true. The fact is that Brett Favre has been the jackass you see today for decades...the winning in Green Bay is what masked it.

Truth. Honestly, I don't know him personally, but I will say that all of the things I have heard from students that know him have been positive fwiw. The truth will come out regarding what kind of guy he is over the coming years.

In regards to my previous post, it's actually "The top 5 reasons you can't blame the Falcons for trading Favre".

Off the field stuff bro. I didn't just make the shite up on my own btw. I stole it from a national sports writer.

https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/PFW-Draft-Guide-rips-Newton-personally-8211-h?urn=nfl-wp657

quote:

But "enormous ego with a sense of entitlement"? "Always knows where the cameras are and plays to them"? How relevant are these evaluations to Newton's future success? You could probably say these things about more than a few successful NFL players at any given time (and you could absolutely say them about one certain currently retired quarterback who may or may not stay retired for too long).
