Doesn't Auburn have to sit Newton until this gets straightened out?

If that is the case then what would prevent any opposing coach from saying shite like "Trent, Ingram, JJ, Ginger all took money" right before we play them? Until there is proof he was paid, this is all bullshite at this point.

Just because Miss St said they had to come up with money doesnt mean he wouldnt play for Auburn for free.

You would have to pay me ALOT to play for ANY Miss school!

No, but at this point they would have to vacate/forfeit 8 games so any chances at reclaiming bowl eligibility would be lost.

I don't really mean "have to" in the sense that the NCAA is making them sit him. I'm speaking more to what would be the prudent thing for them to do if they want to give the appearance of cooperation.

Not only that but it clears victories from being vacated/forfeited if player was found to be ineligible.

Only you Aubbies can be this dumb. Newton could very well be in trouble, and he is apart of Auburn's team, but Newton and Auburn have nothing to do with it.

Because of this, is there any real reason NOT to play him the rest of the season? A ruling on his eligibility likely isn't going to come down before the end of regulation... and if he's ruled ineligible retroactively, what difference does it really make if the OFFICIAL record is 0-12 as opposed to 4-8?

I wouldn't go that far as this could end up being true. But it is certainly laughable how quickly everyone ran with this.

"christmas in novemeber"
"this makes the bama vs lsu game a lot more interestin" (which was bad becuase the guy didn't even know the policy for vacated wins)
Etc.

I wouldn't be so quick to point the finger at recruitments of JUCO QBs, fellow Vol fans.

How do you think we got Matt Simms?
