I don't have a problem with a father not agreeing with a son's decision and voicing that. I do think it's low-rent to go to a fricking reporter and bang on your son, but "still be willing to root for him". This is the son's time, shut your mouth and stay in the background.
I agree somewhat. It's the kids decision and he has every right to change his mind.
I think his dad is upset on how he handled the switch from UA to AU.

If you can't see that it is pretty lame of a "parent" to dog their 17 year old adopted son to a reporter then God help you.

guys... no reasonable auburn fan approves of Cecil newton... IMO the dude is about as low of a creature as you could find on this earth... but this isn't about Cecil, it's about Calloway's dad running his mouth and publicly 2nd guessing his high school son.
The irony is both mean are preachers.

And one is wanting his son to be prepared at a place that he feels would be better for his future, while the other tried to sell his son, for his own future.

Absolutely. Even as an Auburn fan, I don't like it when kids do the public switch, and I agree with the dad about honoring a committment when you make it. Nothing has changed as far as the decision making process goes since the kid committed to Alabama originally. Same players. That being said, I would hope my dad wouldn't dog me out in the public eye if I did that.

It's not the wanting his son to be prepared.... any decent parent would want that.... it's the fact he told this to the press.
can you not see that what his dad did is wrong?

No one is justifying what he did. But you guys are murdering his father like he bent him over his knee and spanked him on ESPN.

Why bother arguing with them. They know what you are saying is correct, but it involves Auburn so they play this game. There isn't one here approving of BC's dad calling his boy out in the papers would do that to their own child. They are just illing is all.

Saban will do that for him.

The thing that stands out to me most about that piece is that Trooper Taylor clearly has the same mentality of a 17-year-old.

Right, because you can't go to the NFL or be successful if you attend Auburn.
Unless of course by be prepared for the future you mean take a 50/50 shot that you will be pressured to leave school and head to South Alabama in a couple of years to make room.

Very sensible post.
I really don't care where he ends up at this point. I mean both classes will be great with or without him, so it really doesn't matter.
Also, the adopted "father" has only been his "dad" for what 3-3/12 years? Different dynamic I'm sure.

If Saban is not a man of his word then why should Calloway be the same?

Sounds like Peaches found out about the "graduation money" Brent was gonna get from the Bammers. I guess we offered Brent more and he won't have to share it with an a-hole foster daddy
