Tired of these Arky trolls talking trash. tPirate is gonna destroy you. Get out of here with this. State by 60. Just because we don't have any titles doesn't make you a better program.

Just 2? He had 3 turnovers against LSU and still won by 10. Thanks for this confidence instilling thread.

If you throw it 70 times per game, that's probably going to happen.
The better question is, can Arkansas actually do anything after it happens?

Probably, I think everyone expects to throw some picks when you throw 60 times a game.

Considering they'll throw the ball 84 times, 2 picks ain't bad

There is an interesting quote out there from Leach that only 5% of a QB's mind should be occupied about throwing an interception. I love that Costello isn't gun shy. He's going to throw picks, but if the TD/INT ratio is in his favor, it leads to a good chance at a W.

Word is it was actually a close battle between K.J. and the Frosh QB, think his name is Will if I remember correctly. Kid can sling it as well
May not be a far drop after K.J. comes out

I'd say at least a 2:1 ratio, then yes - preferably a 3:1 ratio. He had a 2.5:1 ratio last week.
I've seen plenty of games where QBs had 3 TDs and 2 INTs and they lost, sometimes badly (like Brennan had).

Rogers is a lot like Costello in the way that neither are scared to throw the ball. Rogers ran this offense in high school and was recruited hard by Leach to go to WSU. He's a Mississippi product as well coming out of Brandon, MS. A full year watching and getting some garbage time will be huge for his confidence.
Costello himself said he was extremely impressed with Rogers during the summer. I think that says a lot about Costello as a leader as well. I'm excited about the future. Even if we're our average 8 wins ball club, it's such a relief to do it while having fun. Dan was such a drag at the podium.

You hit the nail on the head, I think a fair O/U ratio would be somewhere at 2.5:1, If he's there and our red zone defense improves, I can see us being in a lot of ball games this year.

I saw a few of his game tapes. Kid can throw it no doubt.
I don’t think finding a good QB or WRs is gonna be a problem for State after this season.

Agreed. I think the days of seeing top QB's and skill positions leaving the State of Mississippi are slowing moving in the rear view mirror. State and Ole Miss have as much to offer on offense as nearly every team in the league. Couple that with the opportunity to be "The Guy" at an undersized university has to be enticing for some of these recruits. Some people like being the next Bama champion where they know success is all but guaranteed. Others like to show up on a Mississippi campus and build a new legacy (Much like Dak and AJ Brown).

Absolutely.
Right now, the only game I see as a "likely" loss for State, all things being equal, is Alabama. Of course, that remains paramount to Alabama's LB corps staying healthy. Another slew of injuries like last year, and a Leach offense is the last thing you want to deal with when you're nursing your LBs back to health.
That said, plenty of tough roads ahead. Auburn's defense still looks good. Kentucky's no slouch.
About the only thing State probably has to really worry about is 2nd half defensive performance. LSU had only one offensive touchdown last week in the first half (and no drives of note outside of it, the second longest being 5 plays and 17 yards); a more efficient offense with a couple of scores in the beginning of the game is a different story. You guys will likely improve, barring injuries, but so will other teams. If a team jumps out, your offense is capable of keeping you in the game - but is your defense?

Hell, it's supposedly just a handful of plays, just different route variations by each player.
Leach gives one signal for the formation. The rest is decided by the defense. There are typically 6 plays per formation. The QB calls the play and can check down to a different play if the defense moves around. On each pass play, there are 5 passing options. In practice, Leach uses 5 QBs and throws all 5 options. He expects the balls to come out in order for the correct reads... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. The QBs rotate one spot and then do it all again and again and again. That's why the receivers log 9 or 10 miles in each practice.
