Call me crazy, but as a Gamecock fan I wouldn't care if Clemson joined the SEC

Hear me out. It would bring them back down to Earth.. sure they would still recruit well and surely still out recruit us. They are already doing that as a member of the ACC. If they ever ended up in the SEC, they would just fall back down to an average team (probably a 8-4 type season every year like they used to have in the ACC under Bowden).

Eventually recruiting would probably level off in terms of Clemson/South Carolina. While they sit in the ACC and continue to make appear after appearance in the CFB Playoff/National Title game, this does nothing but hurt us. Clemson being in the ACC as of right now is technically worse for us because recruits see it as an easy path to success.

I hope you all can at least understand what I'm trying to say. I just want people to understand my stance and that I'd never be scared to have Clemson in the SEC. We play them every year anyway.

So why is Aggy scared of Daddy Tejas?

Problems with Clemson is they add no value to the conference. Not a major media market and we already have you guys.

Exactly. I know it'll never happen, and surely never happen if Oklahoma and Texas join (because I don't personally see conferences going past 16 members). I just want people to know I'm not scared of Clemson. I do think A&M is scared of Texas.

Aggies getting shite on per usual. But here they have a point. They'd LOVE to play the Horns every year. But being the only SEC school in Texas is a HUGE advantage. They'd be fools not to protect that.

Being the only SEC school in South Carolina surely hasn't been an advantage for us... then again you really can't compare SC and TX in terms of recruits. I do get it... so I guess I fail to understand why the rivalry game didn't persist after A&M left. Was it Texas? I mean we left the ACC because of Tobacco Road shithousery so in that regard I do understand A&M's plight.

Would you want your ex boyfriend to move in with you and your new boyfriend so they can double team you? That's exactly what's going to happen to A&M. They just cant admit they want it

Clemson would add a lot of value to the conference. They also seem to already have a little “rivalry” with some teams in the SEC. USCe of course, UGA, Auburn, and LSU

The Moo Moo's ain't daddy no more...A&M's the dominant school over Texas now.

A&M isn't "scared" of Texas. According to an A&M friend of mine, it has more to do with how Texas was the school that dealt treacherously in years past, primarily when they were in the old SWC.

At the expense of the other Texas schools, Texas was considered a "dirty" school when it came to recruits, etc. You can ask people from Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, etc., about Texas' past history. UT has always tried to be domineering at the expense of others. Only A&M had the size and stature, plus its proximity to Austin, to take a stand against UT.

Finally, the opportunity for A&M to leave UT behind came with being able to join the SEC and leave the past and UT behind for good. A&M has been able to stand on their own without the bad influences of UT.

But, here come the Cows crawling on their hands and hoofs, desperate for someone to save them and this is why THEY took the initiative to approach the SEC (not the other way around) and now A&M sees the ugly past w/UT rearing up in its rearview mirror and they don't like it.
I don't blame them.

The acrimony between A&M and UT is never going away.

If I was a South Carolina fan, I'd want the SEC to add Clemson.

No more cake walk schedule and automatic ticket to the CFP for Clemson, even with an expanded playoff.

They get taken down a peg and South Carolina would benefit.

I mean it’ll never happen. They are in a good spot and they like where they are. They also don’t bring anything new to the table that we already bring. Less $, no major tv market, smaller alumni base, etc. I do think they would compete in the SEC though. They invested a lot in the program and the results show, regardless of conference. Thank God South Carolina is following suit.

It's not about the product, it's 110% about the $$. Clemson has nothing to offer the SEC.

I do sympathize with A&M a bit because it sort of pulls the rug out from under them.

You're a perennial also-ran in your old conference. You're dominated by Texas and Oklahoma (and others). You're a big school with big money but you have zero brand, a dump of a stadium, etc. Your town is one of the most boring in all of CFB.

Then the SEC thing happens, and at the same time you renovate the dump stadium into one of the nicest in football, you start pouring money into the program, you get a solid if overrated coach with a title on his resume, you start recruiting much better as a result of the investments and the SEC tag, your trajectory is much higher than your big brother rival all of the sudden and Texas looks like they're really fading to obscurity as a football program...

Bam, it's all arguably undercut without any notice as the programs that tormented you before are back to add to your Alabama, LSU, Auburn, etc. problems.
