So we know the SEC champ before the season even starts? Hard pass, and one of the dumbest suggestions I ever heard.

Nobody who needs the autobid to get into NCAAt isn't wining the SEC basketball tournament with the top teams getting BYEs.

I think the SEC Championship game in football should be played before the season.

Baseball should just do a regular 16 team bracket with no byes. Super easy and finishes in 4 days

I could see that, but you’re not finishing it in four days. You would have 8 first round games; that’s not happening in one day (unless it’s at two sites).

I’m gonna shite all over this deal. The SECT gives an automatic bid. So at the beginning of the season, let’s say the winner of that tournament goes on to have a terrible year doesn’t qualify for the NCAA?

No, the autobid would just be front loaded in conference play. It wouldn't be any different than a terrible team getting hot at the end of the season and winning a conference tourney and getting an autobid.

It's kind of a neat idea, but it's not going to happen.

The SEC tournament doesn't have to be the autobid, that's just what the conference decided. They could just as easily do this preseason tournament and give the regular season champ the autobid.
