What idiot thought Saban would never lose again? He is the best in the business but nobody ever thought he was unbeatable.

Your fanbase...as told by a Bama fan Alabama under Saban never lose, only they are unmotivated (Sugar Bowls) or merely don't execute.

I've only seen one Bama fan predict undefeated season on here, and he was right that year.

I will never understand why AU folks know so much more about the day to day things that are going on with my alma mater than I do.... I had no idea our softball team was playing FSU while our crappy basketball team was beating AU.

Exactly. They would be a great source of Bama info if they weren't so full of shite and unable to tell fact from fiction.

Both guys use superior talent to overwhelm the competition... they are elite recruiters and motivators... which is why they failed at the professional level.

schematically neither is great... and both appear to be average game day coaches, getting out schemed by inferior teams fairly regularly.

Also, both UK hoops and bama football wear a bullseye on heir backs at all times... Definitely makes life more difficult. Anyone who thought either was invincible is an idiot.

You are absolutely correct on this. The hype was just stupid. No coach and no team is invincible.

And yet, just as stupidly, we have idiotic comments from the other side like this:
quote:

Saban's struggles have been well-documented. The "process" has been halted

It's the age of hyperbole.

So Alabama will win the 2014 NC and so and so forth?

Proof that you are incapable of considering more than two possibilities.

If Alabama wins the national title in 2014, it doesn't mean Bama is "invincible". If we don't, it doesn't mean Saban is "struggling" and "the process has been halted".

If UGA knocks down your Hail Mary, Alabama wins the West (even if the Iron Bowl played out the same way) and may have won it all. On the other hand, we may have gotten beaten by Missouri...or by Florida State. In these scenarios, do you assume that Alabama is "invincible" or "Can't beat mobile quarterbacks" (respectively), based on this course of events. Do you not realize that your grandiose conclusions all rest on fragile possibilities that happened to play out a certain way?

You say grandiose I say cut and dry. You guys say that only NC's matter so if Saban walks away with anything less is that not a failure to meet the expectations of the Bama fan base?

They have always been able to out talent everyone and other teams are closing that gap. Probably easier for calipari to get that status back because of how weak the conference is. Sabah has to be perfect.

Saban's time is definitely running out. Bobby Bowden is the only coach in the history of college time is definitely running out. Bobby Bowden is the only coach in the history of college football to win a national championship past the age of 67. Saban will turn 63 or 64 next year. When Saban leaves, Alabama will probably go back to the Shula, Franchione, and DuBose yearst year.

First, Saban will eventually lose the touch. That's inevitable. Second, you're an idiot if you think Alabama will fall off the ledge after he retires.

I'm far from being a fan of Nicky's but to put Cal in his class as far as being the best in his field is a bit of a strech. Cal has one NC & the last two schools he coached at were hit with major violations. He is a great recruiter, obviously, but he's "wiining" in the SEC at a time when it's a very weak league overall. He does play a strong out of conference schedule but is not getting it done in the league, at least by UK standards. And how much is his recruiting greatness at UK is tied to the UK program itself, one of the top 3-4 elite programs in college basketball.

Calipari has never been invincible to us. I think we've won 4 out of the last 5 against him.
