He’s the only UTk coach to go to multiple bowl games and win more than 7 games in a season (which he did 3 times) since fat Phil. It’s a real shame how Vols fans have treated him.

And Auburn has only made that one coaching change since 2010.

Eh, Butch was a goober. He had excellent talent and could only coach them to 8-win seasons.
Besides, everyone on the staff at Tenn as well as the players agreed unanimously that Jones was a complete d*ckhead while he was there. So no, he does not deserve an apology. To insinuate that is ridiculous, OP.
Now, should he have been fired so quickly? If it were up to me, maybe not. Tennessee's AD allowed the mob to control the strings and had zero backup plan for a HC replacement. If Tennessee was going to fork over that buyout money so quickly, they should have waited to have a plan in place as opposed to letting the Gruden-blowing Bubbas on VolNation call the shots.
