Q: How did you feel about the SEC's decision to keep the Alabama-Tennessee rivalry in its future scheduling, and were you fighting to preserve it?

A: "Absolutely, because it's a part of our football program and the great tradition we have here. I think the Alabama-Tennessee rivalry is one of the best rivalries in the country, and I think it's the best rivalry in the Southeastern Conference. To be able to maintain that rivalry is something that we are very excited about."

He is 100% correct.

I think I would rate Auburn - State ahead of the TSIO.

TSIO is definitely number 2 though.

SEC noobs.

This may be another reason to kick UT out of #Big6.

when hearing jones speak, I always come away with the feeling he's running through his schtick trying to sell me a car.

butch doesn't really believe this beat up Ford Tarus is the best car out there, but he's gonna do his best to convince me.

Meh, Auburn-Georgia is way better. Longer running, more competitive, both teams relevant...

...But it is nice to see that Vandy - Tennessee rivalry heating up. Good luck with the 'Dores this year.

Volol. When I think of a rivalry I think of a game where either team can step on the field and claw out a victory. That entire series is just one up team beating up on the down team for several years before swapping places.

It could have been the best, too bad UT hasn't been relevant in forever.

Iron Bowl is better.
Egg Bowl is better.
Auburn/Georgia is better.
Cocktail party is better.

Personally, I have no problem with maintaining permanent cross division opponents to maintain Bama/Tennesse, because it is a good rivalry, but to call it the best in the SEC is asinine.

My guess is that if you asked most College Football fans, "Which of these is not a rivalry?" and you list those 5 games, most people would say Bama/Tennessee.

Put it another way...

I don't think Alabama has ever refused to go play in Knoxville like they refused to play in Auburn for all of those years. One of the measuring sticks of a rivalry is just how discombobulated your program and fanbase gets due to the rival and vice/versa.
