Well, OP brought up the size of smoke bomb guy in comparison to the size of the female that Burton struck. So going by that, the physical discrepancy between the parties apparently plays a role in defending the player. So it can certainly be used to defend the accosted party.

Try reading what i said. You may actually get a little smarter. I said he shouldn’t have hit her and I hope he gets a suspension. However, she trespassed on a field of play and ran toward and into a player. She forfeited all of her rights to safety by he actions. She was also likely publicly intoxicated and possibly underage to drink so she has no legal leg to stand on.

It does when the security fails to protect the players and staff.
It's not my job to kill people who break into my house and try to rob me, that's the job of the police. But when the police aren't here, then it becomes my responsibility/right.
They'll put many state troopers around the coaches, but the players are left defenseless.
I have no issue with him pushing people out of his space if this is the route you want to go. The only issue and fault is that she was leaving his space when he pushed her, which is kind of like shooting the burglar in the back.

God your and idiot. It 100% is the same in the eyes of the law. Trespassing is trespassing and you have a right to defend yourself if someone trespasses and runs toward you like she did.
Once again. He was wrong. However, the law has no case against him. The only one who could face jail time(and won’t) is her. The way she was stumbling around before she got to him shows she was clearly about the limit for public intoxication and she trespassed. Now I don’t think she should be arrested. There were 40k+ people breaking the same laws she did.
