Burton will serve no jail time and he probably won’t be suspended. Updated info on page 7.

What he did was wrong. However when a fan steps on a field the players have a right to be concerned. Was he in any danger? Likely not. However, we just saw a man about her same size run onto the 49ers field on Monday night football with a smoke bomb. He got speared and everyone said he deserved it, which I agree with. This incident is only different because she is a woman. We have no idea what was said when she passed him or if the other fan with the video camera in his face was right before that. It is an SEC rule that fans do not come on the field. When you break that rule you forfeit your right to safety.
Once again, he shouldn’t have done it but nothing will come of it.

The incident is different because:

1) She didn't have a smoke bomb (or anything else in her hands)
2) She was moving away from the player (trying to step out of his way)
3) She was a woman

So, while her being a woman is one difference...it isn't the only one.

But once he gets to the NFL and is actually accountable for his actions, instead of the REC covering up for his every misstep, he will be arrested for something off the field related. Those Bama guys seem to struggle with accountability more than guys from other programs at the next level. Wonder why that is?

Your starting left tackle and Safety were pulled over with guns and narcotics in their car in West Monroe about 6 years ago. The Prosecutor held a press conference and talked about how hard the boys had worked on the practice field and how they didn’t hardly have working A/C growing up. Yep. That’s what he said before tossing all the charges. We don’t need you tell us nothing will happen to Burton.

The point is if a crazy person can sneak a smoke bomb into an NFL stadium a Tennessee fan could easily sneak something into Neyland.
Do I think she had anything on her? No. Will he say that she threatened him if this goes to court? 100%. It will be thrown out immediately because she was trespassing on the field. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Congrats on the win BTW. It was well deserved and about time you guys got competitive again.

That could happens at Bama too. He seems to have a temper so he could absolutely do something stupid off the field. This, however, was on the field. She trespassed and that will end any legal action. He wouldn’t have even been arrested on a neutral field.

1. The smoke bomb was just an example. Just like Wagner said after the game he had no idea what the guy may have and he was just trying to stop a bad situation. Burton will say(likely a lie) that she said she had something on her or she told him to die.
2. She was not moving away from him originally. She was moving right at him and looked right at him. We can’t tell from the angle if she said something or not, the video was too grainy.
3. Correct. No one on the Rant would care about this except for Tennessee fans if it was a dude. I would never hit a women. That’s how I was raised. Not everyone is taught that.
Once again, what he did was wrong but there os no legal recourse for it. She broke trespassing laws. She got hit. End of story.

Burton hit a woman in the face but nothing should happen because:

1) He plays for my team
2) See rationalization number 1
