You didn’t know? OP has figured out that the girl was drunk AND underage.

Apparently Saban understands his base of support.

At this point, 'Bama should just start giving anybody in the state pen some eligibility. I'm sure they can get plenty of linemen and linebackers that way.

The only thing close to this blind defense, from any group of fans, is the A&M backing at all cost of homo-erotic cheerleaders. But I think one of the Village People in a Good Humor outfit slapping a girl would even be a bridge too far for them.

Roll Tide.

In all fairness, we all know that if there's one thing a college football player fears, it's a drunk, under twenty-one, average or better looking college girl. Like a vampire and garlic.

Are you also suggesting that you have proof of someone using the n-word, or are you just channeling the OP and throwing shite against the wall?
Didn't you get the memo? If you commit a violent act against someone, your defense is to claim a racial epithet was hurled, then it's justified.

I find this totally believalbe that a young white girl, stormed the field with thousands of others, found the nearest black Alabama football player, and as attempting to go past him without even looking towards him, uses a racial term to him. Yep. That has to be what happened, She probably said something derogatory about his mother too!

Hate to break it to you, but someone "trespassing" along with 20K other people, doesn't give a person the right to openly assault someone.

Haven't you heard? All Alabama players are allowed to be judge and jury when it comes to crimes committed on any football field in the country (even the away team's field), simply for being Alabama players.

Burton was simply doing his civic duty, protecting Tennessee's field from one of 20k fans rushing that sacred space. He was totally within his rights to stop the evil trespassing by open-handed smacking that assailant on the head, it's his duty!

NashvilleTider was gracious enough to investigate and find out that the n-word was used by the young girl.

I’m guessing she had previously threatened to “take out” Burton’s entire family. This was after she had his tires slashed.

I expect he'll be getting his keys to Knoxville, for personally stopping such an obvious threat to East Tennessee Decency. After all ... he was just upholding the law and such.

By your logic* This should have resulted in a massacre. Fans on Bamas field were literally taking their lives in their hands being on a football field. We’re the dangerous, mindless, heathen football players caged when this happened? Or were snipers there ready to Harambe any that got too close to fans?

You’re a fricking idiot. You know that’s an event not the end of a football game.

And using racist language at a person of color too! They should give Burton a damn medal! He's a true hero!

The fact you edited out half the dumbass shite you said proves even you know your post is bs. Unless she hit him he had no right to hit her. There are no "Trespassers will be hit" sign posted on the field. He was butt hurt he lost and hit her. If he didn't have Bama lawyers paying and protecting him he would be in jail.

The only thing you said that was true was that Saban won't punish him because he is okay with his players acting like this. Makes you wonder why they are so undiciplined on the field. Or is it the refs fault he hit her too?

c'mon...the running of the gumps fits what you have said. Suddenly you are trying to clarify things. Besides, those guys running for autographs could easily be intoxicated and ready to rush whatever table Saban and Co are sitting at, causing serious bodily harm.

This could have all been avoided, if he would have just had better hearing. As the poor girl rushed forward with some clear fingernail polish to help with a chigger.

Damn! I totally forgot about the refs! They had to have a hand in this. After picking up all their flags, they influenced Burton to commit assault. Only logical explanation!

You know what, this isn't an angle we've fully explored yet but I feel like there's some Alabama fan out there that has somehow linked the two. It's bound to happen eventually

"Burton was just upset that the girl was taunting him about the white refs siding with Tennessee all night" or something along those lines

I didn’t edit out anything. Lol. The only edit I’ve made in this thread was removing the “deal with it” and putting “updated on page 7” in the subject. Lol
You guys are really grasping at straws here.

Really, it's not.

The idea that people are expected to be perfect is pretty dumb. People are human, and people make mistakes.

What is important is if they learn from the mistakes or not.

What he did was wrong. However when a fan steps on a field the players have a right to be concerned. Was he in any danger? Likely not. However, we just saw a man about her same size run onto the 49ers field on Monday night football with a smoke bomb. He got speared and everyone said he deserved it, which I agree with. This incident is only different because she is a woman. We have no idea what was said when she passed him or if the other fan with the video camera in his face was right before that. It is an SEC rule that fans do not come on the field. When you break that rule you forfeit your right to safety. Once again, he shouldn’t have done it but nothing will come of it.
