Seems like the favorite early in the season always gets surpassed by some breakout star around the 2/3 mark in the season. Almost like voters get fatigue with the early favorite and get wowed by someone later when it's closer to vote time.

Honestly no one really stands out this year, so far. Like someone said, Anderson would probably lead if the Heisman wasn’t an QB/RB award

What hurts Corral as well is that the game was on primetime, and all his scores were during garbage time.

Ordinarily a person might just look at the statline and think, "Corral did fine, it was just the defense that lost Ole Miss the game" - but his rushing TD came with OM down 35-0 and his passing TD only made it 42-21 to end the game.

There wasn’t much there for Corral though. The big thing is that he didn’t force it and turn the ball over a bunch. He also had an early third laser beam for a touchdown that Sanders tried to catch with his face mask. I think he kept his name right in the mix. There will be a lot more chances to impress. And no Alabama left on the schedule. Rebs just need to win a lot of games.

Oh, he's definitely not out of the running (the Odds only slightly favor Young, not some overwhelming majority). I think the biggest thing is that if Ole Miss drops one more game, and Alabama wins out, then barring injury it would have to be some pretty absurd stats for Corral to win in that scenario.

If Alabama ends up being Ole Miss' only loss, then I think he can pull ahead of Young without having to be patently absurd in stats.

Bryce has been fantastic, but what he's doing is not "Heisman Trophy" material (which is totally fine). It's so damn silly that they talk about this stuff during the first week of October.

Corall played a hell of a game. He reminds me of Kyler Murray.

True. Bryce is a true game manager with elite skills. He doesn’t have to be Johnny football.

Anderson doesn’t have the stats, but he is literally in the backfield half of the game, it’s nuts.

Without question he's the best player on the team, probably the conference, and maybe all of football. He's just dominant, and he's a sophomore.

He wont ever get them in todays game bc of how quick QBs get rid of the ball. 10-12 years ago he would have put up video game numbers and a min of 15 sacks

Oh I agree. Especially the way teams scheme against us. He effects the majority of plays though and that shows on film. He and Henry T are the keys to our title chances.

Ok that’s just ignorant. He has more TDs than Mac and Tua through 5 games. He just doesn’t make flashy plays. He makes it looks easy.

A defensive guy would need a big marketing push. Not being a smartass by saying this, but I think Bama could really get behind Anderson to get his name out more nationally.

I also think it shouldn’t just be an offensive skill guy/QB award

I mean I wouldn't go that far. He's the #4 ranked passer in passer rating in the country right now (#2 out of P5 guys behind Pickett from Pitt). He's thrown 17 TDs and 2 INTs, completing 73% of his passes and averaging 275 yards per game (while not playing full 4 quarters of passing games in most of them).
