because the defense was so damn gassed.
Missouri ran three times as many plays? You mean the team that averages 5.4 yards per play is going to run more plays than the team averaging 7.5 per play? Shocking news. The defense wasn't gassed because we ran the ball. We went run heavy because Missouri was getting pressure and surprise to no one Missouri can't stop the run.

3rd Quarter Drive Chart
Take over on an INT at 14:27.
1st down handoff Wandale + 3 yards
2nd down handoff Rodrigiez + 33 yard gain
1st and goal handoff Rodriguez 3 yard TD run

Drive 2 in the 3rd Quarter 9:15
1st down Rodriguez + 1 yard
2nd down Will Levis incomplete pass
3rd down Will Levis incomplete pass
4th down Punt

3rd Quarter 3rd Drive 5:42
1st down Handoff Rodrigiez 7 yards
2nd down Levis pass to Josh Ali 7 yards

Wtf am I doing this? We had 520 yards of offense and we punted twice the entire game. Everything was working. Turnovers are the only reason this game was even close. Sorry we didnt get enough pretty first down passes to swoon you.

While they pounded their directional foe, the central university of non-offensive Texans, that's what you are supposed to do against a toilet paper soft opponent. Looking forward to actual conference play where a real measure of progress vs. last season can be made.

State is beyond undisciplined. I don’t even know a word to describe it

Yes, for a stretch. It's not hard to verify - but I'll do the work for you. Courtesy of the ESPN play by play, since you missed the commentators making the same point.

After the Kentucky INT and going up 28-14 out of half, Mizzou runs ten plays and scores. Kentucky three and outs. Mizzou runs five and punts, Kentucky runs four and punts back, before Mizzou runs another fourteen play drive where they tie it up. That's the stretch of the game where, frankly, Mizzou was dominating with that short passing while Kentucky's defense was crumbling. But the Cayts kept everything in front of them - for whatever that's worth.

I'm worried that yesterday was more about Texas sucking than it was about us being ready to compete with the rest of the SEC.

Moreover, I'm concerned that being ranked is rat poison which will lessen the chip on our players' shoulders that has allowed them to punch above their weight.

Defense was good the first half. Jones is just average and will not be a reason we win games, but could easily lose a few. Bama will intercept him often and it won’t be pretty. Very worried. Secondary still has issues but more talented overall than Macs group.

Yep. I'm not a fan of these games. Obviously the coaching staff wants to have a dress practice. Kentucky uses them to get enough wins to go bowling. But you can see the kids come out flat more often than not.

It's what's got my attention with Auburn. They're hungry, eager to mess these teams up. But how is that going to translate against a legit squad ? Don't know.

So your complaint about the offense is we punted once in the second half and the ESPN noticed. Fine. Sounds more like problems with the defense imo.

OK - we'll do this. I'm argumentative. And I'm not swayed by easy cut and paste stats. Let's dive deeper.

A simple look at the game cast show two drives ending in turnovers. You can pretend those did not happen, or should not happen, but they did. And once Mizzou pulled within seven after that hot start - Kentucky ran nine plays for three minutes and thirty yards. Yes - the offense failed there - in a game that was shaping up as a shoot-out. And the defense got gassed. Kentucky punted twice, FYI.

I can do this all day. Facts are facts. Do you need a link ? Have I not spelled out the source material enough ?

I'm not disputing your facts. I'm saying your point is silly.. and I specifically said the only reason this game was close was because of turnovers so I'm clearly not discounting turnovers. BTW the blocked field goal was basically another turnover.

I'm done with this. You wanted us to pass more on first down for some reason and I say it doesn't matter because the offense was highly effective at running the ball. We did Punt once though.

Have a wonderful Sunday

Punted twice. Read the recap - it's all there. In words and such. See - that's the thing. When you are wrong - you are wrong. All it takes is somebody stubborn enough to make sure it's seen. I am that stubborn.

Kentucky punted twice. And turned the ball over twice. And, as you say, got a field goal blocked. Those are not successful possessions.

Our Defense is just nasty. We need our wide receivers to step it up. Our group of running backs looks like they can be special. KJ is going to get his on the ground but he needs to get some overtime work in after practice with the wideouts.

Alabama

- Offensive line looks like a unit replacing 3 starters. I do not think Alabama can win the conference with the caliber of play they’re getting right now.

- I get the feeling, judging by Saban’s comments, that this team is a bit too in love with themselves and not putting in consistent, good work in practice and it is showing up in the games to those with astute eyes.

- Jameson Williams is an impressive transfer - really surprised he left Ohio State - but he’s got to solve his drop problems. Seems like he a few more mental lapses from having snaps reduced despite having top-flight speed.

- I do think the defense is “solved” but the tests are right around the bend. They’re getting aligned correctly upfront much more consistently than the last 3 seasons. T’oot’oo seems to have singlehandedly right the ship.
