Bruce Pearl 2014: Auburn Calls Dibs!

While I vehemently opposed Bobby Petrino, I would welcome Bruce Pearl with open arms. It's Auburn so no one would be suprised and it could be a match made in Heaven
Pearl's NCAA Show Cause expires in August 2014, so we would just have to make it thru 2 more years of Barbee Ball and with it being SEC Basketball, will anyone even notice?

I miss him sooooooooooo much , full homo

Lol no one is hiring him at this level. He was already black-balled for his role in the Deon Thomas situation, now you put a show cause on top of that.
He will be lucky to ever get a D1 job again.

Ours (although not, b/c our AD is an idiot)
I hear there is guy at NC State who's doing a pretty good job, might take a look at him first?

Watch 5 minuets of UGA/Auburn and then ask me if this matters

It doesn't matter to the fans, but it matters to people who make decisions like these. This guy won everywhere he had been and still couldn't get a job above the Horizon League before Tennessee hired him because of the Deon Thomas situation.
Throw in lying to the NCAA about recruiting violations and receiving a show cause for it and you have a shite ton to lose if you are an AD.
NCAA would set up shop on campus, and that is not what anybody in the SEC wants.

Pearl wouldn't touch Auburn.

JDM1992, Mark Gottfried = High Highs & Low Lows
volfan30, Everything your saying about Pearl is true, especially the thought of having the NCAA closely watching any SEC school. Nonetheless, I think an SEC school is Pearl's most likely landing spot if he does land another Div I job out of pure desperation
How many top tier coaches are kicking down the door to coach at UGA, Auburn, State ect? We're a football conference that, without Kentucky and occasional runs from schools like Florida, puts out a a very subpar basketball product
With television contracts ruling the world, there will be air time to fill outside of football season and I don't see anyone lining up to watch State grind it out against UGA. Coaches like Pearl will fill arenas and draw TV sets and may therefore prove themselves worth the risk

Imagine the rustled jimmies from ut fans if pearl ended up in Tuscaloosa.

I think we should just hire him now and take the NCAA penalties that come with that.
Posted on 1/30/13 at 8:36 pm to 1LoudTideFan
If that happened, I'd hope your jimmies would wither and fall off

Not meant as a knock vs Aub Hoops, but I think and also hope at this age and stage of his career, that Bruce Pearl finds a more legit and promising Hoops run at Hardware type school and program.
Would like to see him not in SEC, and maybe at a good northern or northeastern program, given his time at Iowa and Wisc-Mil, and connections.
