That would be a long time at a top 25 or so program. At Auburn, he's probably ahead of schedule.

Meh, all it takes is a couple players to turn a college basketball team around. Look at us with John Brady, for instance. We would be dogshit for a few years, then get a player like Stromile Swift and go to the sweet 16. Same with Auburn under Cliff Ellis. They were awful, then get Chris Porter and won the conference, going 29-4

Figured it wouldn't take Bruce very long to get up and running at Auburn. Pearl is now 18-2 overall and has the Tigers playing extremely well. He reminds me of Bobby Petrino. Can be a loose cannon at times, but man can he flat out coach and motivate. Anxious to see how we match up with them on Saturday in Auburn, Alabama.

Yeah, he'll always have some highs but the baggage is always lingering. It has been and always will be risk and reward with Pearl. And the risk always seems to win in the end.

But he has his boys playing well right now. I think we might get our first real SEC butt whipping Saturday. Hope I'm wrong.

He could not possibly be anymore opposite from Petrino personality wise.

Literally the only things Petrino and Pearl have in common is high scoring offenses, their initials are BP, and they've both been employed by Auburn before. That's it.

He can motivate, not really coach.

If you seen Auburn in the second half of games, the out of bounds plays or plays we call after a timeout, or seen the improvements we've made it FT shooting, defense, and rebounding this year, you know this isn't true.

I'm sorry, but that's objectively not true. Until he got to Auburn he had NEVER had a losing season in 19 years has a head coach. You don't do that by just being a "motivator." He won a NCAA D-II National Title and played for another one. He made the NCAAT twice in 4 years at UW-Milwaukee and brought them to the Sweet 16 his final season there. In 6 years at Tenn. he only finished lower than 3rd in the conf. twice.

To have that kind of success at 4 different schools over a 23 year coaching career isn't just a fluke. He may be a strong motivator as well, but the guy can coach.

Fair assessment. Bruce isn't without his own issues at times, but the man can flat out coach. I'm enjoying the series between him and Barnes so far.

This season is the most Auburn shite ever.. we have to have some type of intense scrutiny, or some stupid shady stuff going on, or be under some type of microscope for alleged misconduct.. in order to rally the troops and turn it into a highly successful and magical season. It's weird but that's what we do apparently. I could go back decades in numerous sports that prove the theory.

Next year, we're 2 secondary violations, 1 starter arrested for weed, another kicked off, and a coach fired for alleged misconduct away from making the final four..

This is fricking awesome. You know when the losers and haters start yapping, you have arrived and are their goddamn daddy.

Whatever that quote from the Rock is about the losers whining and the winners fricking the prom queen.

Bow down losers. Appears AU basketball is suddenly fricking your prom queen.

Most of these folks would personally go pack their current coach’s shite and drive the truck out of town if they could get Bruce. Salty bunch in here.
