Cam is going to be the second coming of Jamarcus Russell

I don't like Cam as much as the next guy, but this is absolutely false.

Russell was a huge bust because he's extremely lazy and does not give 1 single shite about anything related to football. He made his money and is done. Plus he's dumb as a brick. Cam is fairly smart, he does work his arse off, and is very athletic. Cam can make it in the NFL imo. I don't think he'll ever be winning a superbowl, but he has the potential to be good.

And yet, while sporting the best defense in the NFL from 1999 to 2007, the Ravens drafted Chris Redman, Wes Pate, Kyle Boller, Josh Harris, Derek Anderson, and Troy Smith.

Oh, and he threw away the only quarterback who led them to the Super Bowl.

Very underrated post.

This whole argument is stupid. I can think of dozens and dozens of pro style quarterbacks that sucked balls and failed miserably in the NFL. Cam will succeed or fail on his own merits, not because he came from a spread offense in college.

There are a lot of guys who could run and throw that have had success in the NFL. Guys like Steve Young and John Elway come to mind. I just think the NFL is pretty closed minded when it comes to how they play offensively. Cam has all the athletic intangibles and with the right team he could have a lot of success. I don't think many NFL teams will have a lot of designed runs for he QB in their offense but I do believe having a QB who can be elusive and make plays out of nothing is important at any level.

^^ This

Cecil will not allow Cam to be lazy - Cecil has guided Cam his whole life - they have a very close relationship and Cecil will continue to drive Cam to success in football.

If Cam needs help learning QB in the NFL, Cecil will make sure Cam gets the training he needs to make it in the league.

Cam looks to his father for guidance and like it or not, that guidance has landed him in the NFL - Cecil will still remain at the helm of Cam's career and won't allow him to waste his opportunity like Russell did. JMHO.

Got a question about the draft. The #1 pick gets a big signing bonus, right. What happens during camp if he gets cut, does this player still keep the money? Do I understand correctly, that even if you get drafted, it does not mean that you automatically make the team, and that you could be cut later.

You can be cut at any time. You get to keep any and all guaranteed money, which almost always includes the signing bonus. It is a matter of how the individual contract is written. I think Michael Vick was sued by the Falcons and was ordered to return a portion of his signing bonus, but that wasn't because he was cut by the team.

Cam is no Vick. Doesnt have Vicks elusiveness, but i think Cam is bigger which if true has a different set of advantages...

Id say Vick is the better passer and runner, esp after this past year at Philly. (his passing was arguably suspect)

What causes me concern is his perceived self-over-team attitude. Id be worried success might get to his head and lead to complacency, which leads to inconsistency.

Hopefully he'll get a nice dose of humble pie in the NFL... it will only help.

I was discussing Vick having to return a portion of his signing bonus. I never compared Cam to Vick. FWIW. Maybe you weren't really responding to my comment.

I think you should forward this Bama fan's description to the NCAA and SEC. Seems like relevant evidence they haven't considered.

The problem, to me, seems to lie in your faulty perception.

None of his coaches noted any self-over-team.

None of his teammates noted any self-over-team.

None of his fans noted any self-over-team.

But fans of schools that he punked? Why they seem to note self-over-team!
