The alternative is that they are deathly scared of “cancel culture” and the program or the university decided the heat was not worth it.
But the power struggle angle might be the more likely explanation.

Reading something someone else wrote is no different than an actor reading lines for a movie. shite is a joke, it is not the same as someone freely saying it directed at someone to disrespect them which is awful. Whole thing is a joke an people are soft as charmin

It was BS. But it did wake him up a bit to how disconnected he had gotten from his players. Been a much better coach the last two seasons because of it.

The second comment from Venables was because of all the former player's on twitter saying Gundy is a great guy and should be kept on. Venables second statement killed that possibility.

Good football coach, total clown. Having to pretend to be so intense you need someone to pull you back off the sideline before every play is pathetic.

She doesn’t know anything she deleted it right after … she’s mad because the players talked that’s all. Aggy needs to worry about losing commits …. Seems like you guys have a lot of problems down there … that’s like 3 this cycle .

Just surprising how fast the head coach threw him under the bus and then backed the bus over him again. Venables could have just accepted his resignation, said some nice words about him (he hired him for goodness sake), and moved on.

So maybe, not EVERYONE is offended by it. Maybe the coach got caught up in the moment, feeling like he was one of the guys. I guess it's possible. But if they are as offended by the word as they claim, then quit motherfricking using it, period.

My biggest question is why did he feel the need to throw Gundy under the bus when he had already resigned willingly and made a public statement to that effect? That was about as a clean a break as OU could have hoped for, but now they're wading in the waters of a defamation lawsuit. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

So two people who weren't there somehow corroborated what Venables said. IOW, they confirmed Venables told them the same version of the story he released to the media. That doesn't really close anything.
