They all want to play right away or at least some playing in the first year. Very doubtful that was in the cards for him at Bama regardless of what position he played.

alright i admittedly know nothing about this guy. but from what i'm reading here this dude is gonna get burried in the depth chart at one position, and isn't anything special at the other position. how is he a five star?

He is very good but Alabama has way too much depth at LB for a first year guy to break into the starting lineup unless they are amazing. He was not going to play offense there.

The 5 stars came, in large part, due to his dominance at RB, but it was against pretty weak competition. He's an excellent athlete who was better suited to playing D in college. He's a little small for a LB, and UA is deep right now, hence the lack of immediate playing time. He needs to bulk up some.

I think he could have started at safety at Bama next year, though.

How could he have started with Barron, Lester, Lowery and Robbie Green coming back? Not to mention Jarrick Williams and Nick Perry were two of the best safety prospects in the country last year. Add HCD to the mix this year. He may have had a CHANCE to see some playing time but no way he starts.

He's like, 6'1" and 210. Could you see him at ILB for Saban as a frosh? The fact is, he was probably headed for safety at UA.

I think LSU would have been the better decision but he wants rb.

Last thing we need are running backs- we would be happy to take some of your LBs though.

"I've seen the depth a linebacker at Alabama and it's stiff, and there's guys there that is twice my size. They have played this sport and played this position for so long now, so that's why I'm making it to the point where, now I feel like hey, I should just go head and play running back."

Interviewer: the interesting thing is there are some big time backs at Alabama... you seem to fit their mold, why wouldn't they give you a shot at running back?

"they said I could play running back but they are going to have to end up putting me where they need me, It's like they got six guys on scholarship, so many walk-ons and you have another guy coming in on scholarship. Then you got to get the ball to somebody, everybody wants the ball, everybody can't have the ball. So that's why the depth there, I can't deal with it and be number seven on the bench, you know what I'm saying. Not saying I don't have the ability to work myself up, but it's a fact that everybody can't get the ball."

He sounds like a perfect fit for AU. Congrats to the tigers on their beast.

I know you originated on Alabama message boards where the bitterness is pretty strong, but can you tone it down a little bit, you come across as a whiny little bitch in all honesty.

I may have exaggerated the part about him starting, but he would certainly have competed with Lowery, Green, Williams, and Perry.

I think HCD would have a better chance than him. Barron, Lester and Lowery will likely get most of the playing time again. We don't know how Robbie Green will come back yet. Williams and Perry should make the second year improvements.

Maybe I should be nicer. Most of what I say over here is all in fun.

But, you have to admit, those comments aren't exactly what you want to hear out of your star recruit. "They have a lot of guys better than me on that team, so I chose this team." WTF?

I agree with you wholeheartedly honestly. You never want to hear that a player is scared of competition. Makes you think he might be a little soft mentally. Hopefully that isn't the case, I feel as though this kid has a great deal of potential (not really as a RB though)

Sounds like something Hanky13 would say to seal the deal.

How many true freshmen have started, or at least played a significant amount, in the past few years at bama?

Sure, quite a bit, even after 2008's class. But those were positions were reloading. Has Calloway ever been quoted with his thoughts on ever playing safety?
