Are you sure it wasn’t a major violation?
The local media called it a secondary violation when it happened. I have no idea if it was major or not or even what the real difference would be. I knew he was cheating well before that like everyone else that was recruiting at a high level. I really didn't care.

Since Pearl got a show cause got cheating you can read in detail there

Hired this attorney hand has skated clean ever since
Would you say Wade’s situation and Bruce’s situation are comparable? If so, how? It seems that a lot of LSU fans are trying to compare the two.

Y'all do realize Pearl hired this lawyer while at UT and then was fired by UT, right?

I think the lawyer will help him get a buyout from LSU like he helped Pearl get one from UT. Good for Wade!

Also, you and the other auburn fan in here lied. Shocking I know
David Gruber was the attorney Pearl used at UT
He only hired Thompson for the FBI probe at Auburn

Is this the same attorney Pearl employed in the UT case with the NCAA?

Everything's so misleading, including the article.

Still want to know when Bruce skated after cheating.

There’s been no accusations of Bruce cheating at AU but you keep saying this lawyer helped him skate.

This is false

In one of his more high-profile NCAA cases, Thompson represented former University of Tennessee head men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl, who initially needed representation because he lied in 2010 to NCAA investigators about where a photograph was taken of him and a high school recruit.
Thompson counseled him to admit to the infraction — which he did — but it was still not enough to save his job at Tennessee.

quote:That’s not a fact. But there was some nervousness surrounding the situation. An assistant coach was involved in the FBI scandal and it was all pretty new at the time. They did their due diligence, and now he’s about to get a nice new contract. So, where are these accusations of Bruce cheating at Auburn coming from again?
Then why did your president almost fire him?

Guilbeau just dropped his article on this topic:

He added this to the story:

He added this to the story:
quote:
An LSU official on Thursday confirmed Wade's hiring of Thompson, first reported by Sports Illustrated, and referred to it as "a step in the right direction" for Wade and "something LSU has been working toward" since Wade's suspension
quote:
"In a unique niche, I represent NCAA member institutions and coaches in matters pending before the NCAA Committee on Infractions," Thompson says on the Nixon Peabody website.
His duties include "frequent representation of university clients and head coaches in NCAA infractions investigation and enforcement actions."
In the Sean Miller case, Thompson said he "represented a coach in defense of widely reported allegations of improper recruiting inducements, and after a rapid response and investigation of these unfounded allegations, and intense negotiations with the university, the coach was allowed to resume his position."
Miller denied any wrongdoing and met with school officials. Wade has done neither as of yet.
