Amazing how quickly we've gone from black people calling us racist for not allowing them on the team to black people calling us racist because they're not being paid millions of dollars to play on the team. I see a common thread here, and it's a microcosm for what's happening to our country as a whole

To me, this is the most significant potential change.
If athletes are employees, paid as employees, and receive benefits as employees, how can most institutions afford that?
You could have a six-year grad student graduate and be eligible for state retirement in just a few years.

Simple solution, come to A&M where they are no caps

I am all for treating these kids as actual state employees. Let them find out what it‘a like to manage your own bills. Have them pay 100% of tuition and room and board along with melas also. Since college’s have to have insurance on the players for sports have the athlete that’s an employee have to pay for there medical bills also like us normal everyday non athletes that have real jobs. Then make them file a W-2 every year as well. Also make sure these kids are paid on a weakly it by weakly schedule. I don’t get paid till I start performing for my work so make it to where these kids have to pay there own admissions up front and then pay for reimbursement once’s “hired”. Right now the NIL allows other business to give kids money for there ability and not the schools. Orginally everyone wanted the athletes be Abel to be paid and that has happened and now it’s not good enough. Black athletes are getting paid if they are good. What’s Bryce Young NIL worth. Or what about Nico Iamaleava that’s supposedly signed an NIL deal before stepping foot on campus. I don’t know about everyone else, but I don’t like spending my money on a product that’s not productive or it doesn’t have no benefits to myself or my family.

That's actually a pretty interesting question.
If something like that were to happen, would there no longer be scholarships? Would they be required to have health insurance if they get injured?
Aside from the NIL guys making millions, how much of a salary would they have to pay the regular guys on the team so that they could afford all of that?

At my employer they provide benefits at a cost to every employee. Make them pay premiums and meet deductible’s like the rest of us when we receive medical care. Make them file W-2 every year and pay for 100% of there tuition and everything that comes along with it. Do away with scholarship and stipend’s. On official travel duties make them file for reimbursement for meals and hotels once there return home. Also if employees are not performing then they should be able to be “fired”. In a state like Tennessee employee’s can be fired with or without cause. It’s an at will employment state meaning you can be let go or quite without notice. So if they want to open this box then the schools need to change there business model on how they do business.

Why not fight against the eligibility limits, too? If a kid wants to go to college and play football for 15 years, why shouldn't he be able to?

What's the disparate impact?
Please tell me it's because black athletes represent a disproportionately high % of star athletes - thus the cap limits their comp more than white counterparts because their ceilings are higher
Would be absolutely hilarious

Last month, the NCPA filed an unfair labor practice charge against the NCAA, Pac-12, UCLA and USC supporting an initiative that players get employee status.

Here's the fastest guy this year in my sport. I don't think he's making less than other swimmers

Headline should read: More bullshite Whining From Perpetual Victims.
frick them. I want it to be mandatory that all college football and basketball teams must match the racial makeup of the nation. No more than 1% difference based on race.

NCAA demographics show that 20% of all Division I athletes are Black. Approximately 56% are white.
That's because of men/women golf, m/w swimming, m/w volleyball, etc.
White students should file a complaint/suit that black student athletes make up 88% of football and 92% of basketball.

White people will never speak out about the blatant racism that effects them every day.

lack athletes file complaint with DoE
Well, that's their first mistake. Filing with the Department of Energy rather than the Department of Education probably won't get them anywhere.
DOE vs DoEd
quote:
Its official abbreviation is "ED" ("DoE" refers to the United States Department of Energy) and is also often abbreviated informally as "DoEd".

So only black athletes are capped?
Maybe you folks should Google disparate impact.. so you would stop asking this stupid question.
Not saying I agree with this lawsuit or anything, I don't even really follow the NIL or other paying stuff..but I kind of see where they are coming from just because I understand how disparate impact can rear it's head

“Disparate impact in United States labor law refers to practices in employment, housing, and other areas that adversely affect one group of people of a protected characteristic more than another, even though rules applied by employers or landlords are formally neutral. Wikipedia”
Again, why is it that only black athletes would be harmed by a “cap”?

And it's the lawyers' faults. They are most likely the ones fanning the flames.
