I was talking about, there is no stipulation that the remainder of the contract is due in say...90 days or 180 days like some have

No, there’s no “In x number of days” stipulation but there is a very specific schedule.

It says the full amount must be paid in equal monthly installments over the period of time remaining on the contract. It’s a pretty straightforward agreement. LSU has to keep paying him like he’s still the head coach.

Why the heck would you "just pay him the full amount" when a negotiated lump sum is the best solution for both parties?

If you’re BK why not enforce the contract for the most leverage. There’s probably a way out where LSU doesnt pay every penny but Kelly is going to get the most he possibly can and LSU hasnt put enough on the table.

You people act like Kelly wanted to be fired.

is it though?

BK is guaranteed $8.1 million a year for the next 6 years, no matter what kind of HC/media gig he gets

i dont see where a lump sum is of any significant benefit to him, unless he has major health issues and wants to spend it all while he’s in good enough shape to enjoy it

his wife may be the one wanting him to hold out for the entire buyout

He should settle and walk away. His name is already not that well regarded after the job he did at LSU. Who the heck needs $54M anyway? If he settles people will think he was reasonable and the world will open up for him.

Seems like someone got into his head and caused him to change his course.

You just said he’s not well regarded. And now LSU is dragging him through the mud making it harder for him gain another position.

Why would he NOT get every cent that’s owed him? You just incited a known a hole to dig in his feet and really make it hurt for LSU

It potentially could be.

40 million at 5% simple compound interest for 6 years is 53.6 million. That plus eliminating the offset if he gets another job would be pretty attractive. It’s a deal I would take.

But that’s 40 mil. If the reports are right and LSU has offered 25 to 30 there’s absolutely no reason at all for him to take it.
