I thought you were diminishing O's and Napier's accomplishments at LSU and UL, my bad.

I don't know a lot about ancient SWAC history, but I'm assuming Grambling had a lot of Louisiana guys on Robinson's teams. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

UF should lockdown as much as FL as possible then go to GA.
After that it doesn't matter, just go get best available.
We don't need LA kids and have never had that much success there.

I remember Ike Hilliard and a DeShawn Carter who was a #1 CB recruit from c/o 2000 and he did nothing. I cant remember too many other although I so believe that FL/GA/LA are the best talent in the country.

Dumb Billy was born into a family of Tenn Vols in Cokeville, TN but raised a dumb GA boy in Chatsworth, GA

I'd say his formative years were in Georgia.

I can think of guys from Georgia who have had success coaching outside of Georgia. Same with Alabama, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio right off the top of my head.

No problem. And thanks to The Caw re: Napier's birthplace.

I honestly can't think of a coach from Louisiana who coached a college team in another state, other than Orgeron at Ole Miss.

I know Rob Sale. Really I knew his dad but followed Rob from his high school days at Neville and then on to LSU. Great dude. I was actually living in Monroe back in 2018 and his dad was my neighbor. He told me that Nick wanted him to come to Alabama and be his O-line coach about that time and I guess he countered that offer to get the OC position at ULL. Once the gig opened at Florida, Billy took Rob with him. I swore Rob was the OC at Florida initially? Maybe I’m wrong.

He has a lot of Louisiana guys on his staff but he's done well recruiting Florida. Recruiting, honestly, isn't Billy's issue. Coaching is the issue and a lack of adaptability, i.e., stubbornly clinging to play calling duties.

Major Applewhite and Scott Cochran come to mind if just talking HCs. Dozens of assistant coaches.

Scott Cochran
I just saw he's 3-0 at West Alabama.

Good for him.

I completely whiffed on Applewhite. I even saw him play at Catholic HS in Baton Rouge.

I was thinking D-I level, so not really including Cochran. Glad to hear he is doing well though, he grew up in the same neighborhood as me and Cajunbama.

Hiring assistants with recruiting connections in Florida, Georgia, Texas and Alabama would probably do more for their team.

It's 2025 none of that matters.

What matters is the fat sack of cash you can deliver.
