Going into a list like this blind you'd naturally expect Alabama, as the most successful program in conference history, to have been the team dishing out most of these beatings, but nope

That’s because Alabama’s strength through the years primarily has been defense, and it has never been in the program’s DNA to run up the score.

Switzer and Osborne (both on the list) were notorious for blowing up the scoreboard.

60+ pt. outputs by Switzer/Osborne in 41 combined years.

60-69: 36
70-79: 12
80-89: 2

60+ pt. outputs by Bryant/Saban in 42 combined years:

60-69: 16
70-79: 1
80-89: 1

Yet somehow Bryant/Saban managed to win twice as many national titles as Switzer/Osborne.

“I know State's is wrong. The older fans on the State boards used to talk about a time in the late 60's when Houston beat us by more than 70.”

This is correct. HOU beat State 74-0 around 1968-69. And to this day I have absolutely Zero for Houston. Nada. They were throwing bombs in the fourth quarter deliberately running up the score. And they had this pathetic WR named Elmo Wright who would showboat and dance in the end zone after a TD.

But I can see an argument for starting it in 1998 since that's when the true Playoff era began... probably need more time but 50 years from now I think we'll say '98 was the start of the modern era. Probably not there yet.

The “modern era” probably really should start with integration.

BOTH Mississippi schools lost by 60+ point shutouts to Vandy in 1904?

If you made that bet.....*whistle*!
