i think the word gump does not have to be an allusion to the movie. it is a slur referring to lack of intelligence. swamp people, however, is not a slur to me. most of so called swamp people just have hunting and fishing camps there. corn dogs as an insult is as lame as it gets. people need to get on the stick and think of more creative insults about us. no wait, they may come up with same that are fact based.

I think most of the Alabama scenes in Forrest Gump were filmed in S. Carolina. I'm not sure what that says about the "last good movie made about" Alabama.

I think corndog is the dumbest f.ing name I've heard for a fanbase. I know what it's supposed to mean but that fact that it's completely false makes it just f.ing stupid.
At least Gump has some REAL significance behind it. Like Swamp People. I'd rather be called that b/c it's realistic I suppose.

"Gumps" doesn't bother me at all. I think its witty, and I liked the character in both the book and movie.
