The Old LSU Site, the school's original location, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.[11]

The original site is by the US Forestry compound across from the VA in Pineville. There’s a walking trail and a plaque. That’s about it.

UGA is the oldest state-chartered university in the United State of America, it is not disputed by any credible person. There are some older, but they are private schools, like Brown in Rhode Island. Not state-chartered universities. The brand new state of Georgia, after the end of the war in 1783, decided to make a government sponsored (state-chartered) university very quickly, and did it in 1785 after John Milledge (Milledge Avenue, Millegeville) explored into injun territory and found a nice spot for it, which we now call Athens, named after the Greek city known for higher learning thousands of years ago.

UGA was chartered Jan 27 1795 and started admitting students in 1801.
University of Tenn started in 1879. Was Blount College in 1794. Renamed East Tenn College in 1807 and wasn’t the University of Tenn until 1879.
